Hi Girls,
I just wandered if anyone could interpret these blood results I got today, these are my levels on CD 4

FSH 15.5
LH 8.6
Estradiol 60
AMH 0.7

My Dr did explain that because I have a high FSH level and a low AMH level it could indicate a low Ovarian reserve for my age (34) and I also have 3 large Cysts on my Ovaries and PCOS
I have been TTC for 19 months

Thanks

xxxxxx

Hi Clover, I have low amh - it was around 5.78 2 years ago so is likely to be much lower now. I had ivf on the NHS and they class below 5 as very low and they wouldn't treat a patient with levels lower than 2 (I think this varies depending on the clinic - some private clinics will treat levels lower than this). The good news is that it isn't a reflection of egg quality so as long as you're still producing eggs you can still get pregnant xx

Hi Clover,
I'm surprised you say you have pcos with those results. I have pcos and my AMH was very high (usually a high result confirms pco), also LH is usually higher than fsh in pco.
I don't know much about estradiol I'm afraid.
I think there are supplements you can take to improve AMH, I'm sure there is a thread here somewhere with it on if you run a search.

Hi Clover, here is an article which gives a very good explanation, you can come the link into your browser, however before you read it I just wanted to say blood results are only indicators they do not give a definitive picture of your chances of becoming pregnant. I am 43 and have a good AMH 19.7 however my consultant said that its egg quality that real counts so I would be better being younger but with a low AMH - IVF results are better. I have a friend that had a very low AMH in her 30's and only got 2 eggs from IVF but they both were high quality & she had her baby and is pregnant with the 2nd embryo that had been frozen.
I would recommend that you get referred to a fertility specialist straight away so they can assess your situation, make sure your GP marks the letter urgent.

Hi Clover, I have high FSH and low AMH too (I'm 32), there is nothing that can improve it as such but things like coq10 is good for egg quality and agnus castus and wheatgrass can help with FSH. I would push for fertility appointment or even go private if the wait is a long one. As long as you still have eggs then you can still get pregnant but it might be worth getting some assistance xx

Hi, I have high fish, was around 60, I got it down to 30 naturally through acupuncture, baby aspirin, vitamins, maca, royal jelly and wheatgrass in smoothies (tastes rank on own) anyway all I say is never give up hope, I have a beautiful 5 month little girl on the back of a cancelled IVF cycle as was poor response we carried on trying and only needed the 1 egg. Our little miracle. I'm also 34 so age doesn't matter really. I just think the NHS are uneducated in younger women with high fsh, they write us off in the start. We had private treatment at the Lister hospital in London (obviously we never completed a cycle) who specialise in this area if you are looking for someone who is an expert. Good luck and don't hesitate to pm me any questions xx

Oh and also ask for repeat bloods when you start your next cycle as mine halved right after getting AF.

Thanks so much for this hun, it gives me hope, I have 3 beautiful children so I know I'm lucky, the urge to have another is strong but I am realistic,
I started on Royal Jelly, Maca, Asprin,co q10 and multivitamins last month and have included fertility boosting foods in my diet, the only thing I haven't tried is Wheetgrass so I am keen to add that to my smoothies :)

Hi Clover. I had high FSH and was told my ovarian reserve may be low. My AMH was ok though and I since got diagnosed with PCOS... I think PCOS can skew these results. Are you on metformin? Only that and chromium have helped me. Xxx

Hi Phoenixgirl
I have been on Clomid but not metformin, ive heard good things about it though, I sound really dumb bit what does it do for fertility ? I know it's a medicine for Diabetes to lower blood sugar levels, but unsure what it can do for PCOS ?
Thanks for your help my lovely

Insulin resistance is the root cause of all PCOS. Even if you don't measure as insulin resistance or are slim, you will have it to a degree. This has a knock-on effect on all your other hormones which makes your egg quality bad, means you may not ovulate, and means your progesterone is probably too low to support a pregnancy. Again, tests may come back as 'normal' but this is a huge range and you may be on the lower ends.

I was told I was ovulating and everything looked ok but I knew something was wrong from the bleeding. I had no CM either (if I did, it was a scanty bit of sticky or creamy stuff... that was all). Now I get loads of EWCM. I believe sorting the insulin means the other hormones are balanced as a consequence. X
