Hi,

Mel just took a little tumble and has bitten a little crescent into his tongue at the side. It bled but it stopped pretty quickly & I don't think it has gone through. Is there anything I should do? I just phoned NHS direct but didn't speak to anyone as it said there was a 4 hr wait. Is it safe to put him to bed? It isn't bleeding but it won't swell up or anything will it? Aargh! He seems quite happy and oblivious right now but obviously I'm worrying. I had a feeling someone posted about it before but I couldn't find it.

Any advice very welcome!

Thanks ladies

p.s. my oh bit right through his tongue playing rugby once and apparently all he had to do was to swill salt water round it and check it didn't get affected. I can't do that though can I!

I'm not sure but it might be worth giving him an ice pole or something to suck on to stop any swellling.

Hope he was ok hun! I remember Aimee biting her tounge once when she fell off the sofa, it bled everywhere and looked much worse than it was. I just give her and ice pop. She was fine the next day.

ooo..i wouldn't have thought of an ice pop, but it sound like a great idea!.

hope he is ok today

Hi Ladies,

thanks for your replies! I am a panic merchant! It looks much better this morning and he has happily been munching rice cakes this morning so I don't think it's hurting him although trying to get him to show me is hilarious and requires all of us poking our tongues out and playing with torches.

Thanks again
