Birthing Centre or Hospital???

Our birth centre is 40 mins from hospital so no way was I risking it. Although I was considered low risk because I was induced I was on the normal labour ward / suite but the room was not clinical at all and was very comfy indeed. I was lucky we opted for hospital though as I required emergency c section and it literally happened in minutes. I dread to think what would have happened if we'd had the 40 minute journey.

Yup, the same really. The birthing centre is about 15 minutes from my house, the hospital is 30/40 minutes away, I just wouldn't want to have to travel for that amount of time whilst something was going wrong.

Just to add - during our antenatal course the hospital route was made out to be very negative and i personally felt they were trying to push home births and birthing centres and in fact I felt like we were considered strange for wanting a hospital birth. The midwife also mentioned home birth / birth centres several times. I think if I lived closer to hospital or if the birth centre was closer it would have been a consideration.
