Has anyone used a birthing ball during labour? Do they help or are they just a waste of time?

My sister bought me one for xmas, I know they probably already have them at the hospital, but it may come in handy for when i have sore hips later on as the rolling motion eases the pain :D .

Hiya, they really do help and are very good at getting the baby into a good position for birth, you can use a large sym ball, if you have the money I would go for it. x

god i loved mt birthing ball during labour! i rolled around on it right up until i had to push :D

I have one - course I didn't bloody use it as I was induced haha.
But I use it as a footstool when I'm on the computer lol.

Sorry that's totally irrelevant :D

I have an exercise ball at home, which helps when I cant get comfy sitting on sofa (which is a lot at the mo), it takes the pressure off your back...I intend to use it labouring at home and the hozzie has them there too so I will defo be using them there...I can imagine once I am on the gas and air it will be hilarious trying to stay on one though, I will be rolling all over the floor. I am so worried I am too fat at the mo, and it will burst!!!! :rotfl:

birthing balls are awesome it relieves some of the pressure on your hips, but when you go to stand up off of it just ease yourself up slowly as i had a really sharp pain cause i stood up to quick and i cried and got in a huff and kicked the ball ........ yes hormones still flying high during labour.

i had one which i used for good positioning before labour which didnt work as he was back to back. personally i hated it in labour i found it more uncomfortable being sat down or leaning over, i liked pacing. but was good for watching telly on!

i used one when i had my second child and it really helped when the contractions got worse

This is the one my sister got me

Its 65cm, which is the same as the proper labouring balls on Ebay, so i'm hoping it will be just as good :D .
