Birth Plan?

Hey lovelies

Just wondering if everyone has/is doing a birthplan and where to start? Is there a specific format or a good website to download one?

I did mine with my midwife in the green booklet they give you for all your notes etc. I left it to do with her, but she said that was my section to write what i like in. Its fairly basic, she asked if i minded a student midwife, what kinda pain relief i'd like and gave some suggestions, for example, she said about skin to skin contact, and i've asked for my LO to be cleaned off, so she suggested having a small towel on my chest for her to placed on, wiped off and then they'll remove the towel

i just wrote mine in the order that the birth would progress, so stated who ae going to be my birthing partners first and then how i'd like the labour to be, then birth, including the way i'd want a section if i have to have one, the only thing i didn't put in is induction as i'm really hoping i won't need to be induced! hope that makes sense and helps x

I plan on doing one in the next couple of weeks. I'm seeing my MW on Monday so I'm going to talk to her about it then.

I've started to think of what I want to put in there though, I used the NHS page to see what kind of things I should be thinking about.

Just scroll down the page and you'll find it. It's very detailed and covers basically everything, but if you want a simpler one with just the most important things on there, then this HIPP one is good as well

If I was you I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you know what you want etc cos they will ask you on the day. It's hard to know what to prepare for, just make sure your aware of things like pain relief. You can't really plan for it too much so just put what you think you can change your mind.
