I'm thinking of getting one, everyone else seems to have one and they're recommended for all sorts... But when/how do I actually use it? What benefits are there? Like does it encourage baby to go head down/engage? When week should I start using it? xx

ive been using it for a week now and its REALLY helped my back and pelvic pain. I usually have a 5 minute bounce 4 times a day. i do a bit of bouncing and rocking back and forth, thrn rotate my hips clockwise (apparently youre not meant to rotate anti clockwise from 35 weeks but im not sure whyor if thats even true) and finish off with a bounce.

argos value do them for a fiver, but i got the pretty blue one which was 6.99 and came with a pump

apparently its good for after birth too for your pelvic floor and core muscles

its suppsoed to hep relieve pain and get baby in the right position to birth. my baby is 2/5 in my pelvis and in a great position for birth but i dont know how much of that is the ball

Had one for a while due to pgp but was advised not to start bouncing till week 37. Physio have me exercises to do which help manage the pain I'm in. It's the most comfortable place to sit too!

Yes it encourages baby to go head down too & must work coz he's always been right way!

Started bouncing slightly this week (not too much - didn't want him here before I'd done at work) and just had my appt & he's engaged...3/5 of the way in! xx

My birthing ball is my life saver!!

From 29 weeks until 33 weeks I was in agony with my back, I was limping and couldn't even climb stairs, I had to crawl up them on my hands and knees I was in that much pain. My physiotherapist recommended a birthing ball which I bought from Argos for £10 and within 3 days my back pain had massively improved and within a week it was totally gone! I'm 37 weeks pregnant now and the pains have never came back.

I spent about 20-60 minutes a day on my ball, even just sitting on it while watching tv as its very comfortable and it's good for helping baby get engaged and into position. They're useful in labour too as it helps quicken the cervix dilating.
I'd be lost without my ball!

What does everyone do on the ball? Do you just sit or do you bounce / wiggle from side to side? Im suffering with back pain so quite interested to try it out :)

I rotate my pelvis clockwise and anticlockwise, I also rock back and forth, lightly bounce and some times just sit mobile :)

And rock side to side! I've been knitting on my ball! xx

theres also a figure 8 type of exercise but last time i tried to do that i almmost fell off lol

I'm going to buy a birthing ball to help with my back and hip pain

What size do you buy ?? On argos theres 55cm, 65cm and 75cm Does size matter ?

I have a 65 cm and I'm 5ft 3. Size does matter as if it's too big it'll be difficult to keep your balance and do the right exercises. Most people do get a 65cm

I think if you're up to 5'8" they suggest 65cm xx

I'm about 5"4 so I recon the cheaper 55cm one will be fine for me then

i got the 65cm and im 5ft0 and it seems perfect for me.

I've got the value one

Midwife told me not to bother buying expensive one - they all do the same for what we need it for

It was under a fiver and came with the pump etc ! It's great! Highly reccommed

My only problem is....

I lie on the sofa and the ball stays in the corner - I'm so tired after work just looking at it annoys me! However ill get back on it as I finish work tomorrow

Eating dinner late this evening as I left work late which means no bouncing for a whole - find it makes my heartburn worse after I've just eaten :/

ive gone through a big bottle of milk in 2 days. theres a gap between about 7pm and going to bed where my ehartburn is bad but if i take my 2nd dose too early then i wake up in the middle of the night
