I totally agree with you Valentine, I have a couple of friends who are single parents (and some who may as well be ) and I admire them so much, they do a fantastic job of raising their children, i'm sure it's hard work and they definately deserve a big pat on the back

I'm lucky in that I live with my mum and dad, so I do get a break sometimes!

I just don't know how people cope ALL on their own. I sometimes go for a pee once Mhairi is in bed and realise I haven't been since before she woke up that morning!

But to those on their own to you! You really are amazing!

Before I met DH, it was just me and Tia. I can remember how hard it was (although vastly easier than living with my ex too) and how easy its been this time round with a wonderful DH who helps out loads.. So a thousand cheers at those mums that have to do it all alone... with more than one.. and give you extra credit for that..

I live with my parents at the mo and if I didnt have them there for the old half hour or passing me nappies etc Id be a wreck. OH is a farmer so works 7am-10pm

I have said this a few times recently. Until i had Charlotte i couldn't imagine how hard it is and it really helps having DH there in the evenings to take some of the pressure off.

Completly agree..

my OH has been doing nightshifts recently. (7pm till about 5-6 am) and ive found it so hard doing 2 babies feeds (basically having to get up about 5 times a night) and then OH sleeps in the day so i have to have them then too.. very difficult. (he's doing another of these shifts next weekend)

Cant imagine how hard it must be ALL the time.

completely agree. Im alone 14 - 16 hours a day in the week and thats hard enough but at least DH helps out at the weekends and takes him off me for 1/2 hr a night. I really admire you single mums. My mum was one with me and I have new found respect for her now.

I bought harrison up alone and until i was reading this thread i was just sat thinking to myself how easy having this little bubs is going to be cuz i now have a great OH.

Yeah i agree, single mums have the role of mummy and daddy and no time for themselves.

I am a single Mum 50% of the time when Brian is on his month away on the rigs and I must admit... I do look forward to him coming home, even if he only has Arianna for 10min in his month off.... I use every second of it.

I couldn't imagine having to do it all by myself - sometimes I know me and DH are just exhausted and thats with 2 of us running around, 2 of us feeding, putting toys back etc, etc, etc. It must be a struggle doing it alone. Talking of single mum's....isn't there a TV show about to start (perhaps just started?) that's supposed to be showing the hardships faced by single parents in order to try and banish the old sterotypes etc that often go along with being a single mum. I've seen it advertised but no idea when it's on...knowing me it's started and finished by now!!

im a single mother. and when you are faced with it, you just get on with it. it isnt that hard really. but i agree, you dont have much time for yourself lol.

Can i just say, this thread has cheered me up so much. Im a single mum and im so down atm, leahs hit the terrible 2's BIG time n im so drained from trying to disapline her, everything is a chore! Im findin it so hard n intense on my own cos i have no back up n its just little old me. The last week, shes been protestin at having to go to bed n its taking me about 2 hours from bath time to when shes actually asleep.

I work full time n just sit here crying cos i would just love 5 mins to myself, plz dont get me wrong i LOVE leah to bits but atm just findin it alll to much n very hard
