Big decision needed today - eek!

Hi I had a positive pregnancy test last night - yippee!

However its my first (unconfimed by doctor yet)

I'm terrified at the timing because I am currently working my last week's notice at my current job and due to start a new job in 2 weeks

Anybody else been in this situation?

My old employer has offered to retract my resignation but they do not know my reasons why yet.
I'm not happy in my old job but the maternity rights are better than the new one.

So my big decision is stay and hope the pregnancy continues ok and I get money or
start my new job, have less money but be happier

cor, that's quite a decision hon. welcome to the forum

if a home pregnancy test has come up positive, then you are definitely pregnant. you can get false negatives, but not false positives.

i think it depends on how work-focused you are? if you intend to keep working after LO arrives, then i'd be tempted to go with the new job.

most good maternity packages rely on you going back to the company after your maternity leave, so you'd be tied into going back to a job you don't like much.

also, as you say, its early days in your pregnancy yet.

Its such a hard decision - I found out i'm pregnant yeaterday and they need to know tomorrow. I hate making snap decisions

I do intend to return to work.

Also my Mother reminded me I have miscarried before - do I want to risk being stuck in the job if the worst happens

Thinking if I start the new job I wont tell them yet

Does anyone know how long I can wait before telling at work?

You'll have to tell them by the 15th week before your due date, but I guess they might spot it earlier than that.
