I went to see my midwife a few days ago for my 24 week check. I asked her to explain my Anomoly scan results as for each measurement, mine are slightly above for everything. My midwife said this is because at 20 weeks my baby is above the average in size.

It was very much the wrong thing to tell me as I am already having trouble sleeping worrying about what lies ahead for the labour.

My question is - am I eating to much? (If I am being a complete dumbo, feel free to giggle - I'm new to all this and I don't doubt that I may be asking/worrying about ridiculous things! )I am contious that I'm pigging out a little on naughty things (sweet treats) and perhaps this is contributing to my baby growing too much?

I'm not sure, but I didn't think the size of the baby had anything to do with what you eat. I eat SO much chocolate, crisps and cakes when I'm pregnant and my last one was not a big baby and this one is not measuring big either.

At 20 weeks my little man was measuring big, I'm now measuring 5 weeks behind with only 3 weeks to go! Their size can change! I wouldn't worry about it

Babies go through growth spurts so, for example, your baby might have had a growth spurt just before the scan then not put on any more weight for a while, then had another spurt etc etc. My bump was measuring 34cm at 34 weeks and then 35cm at 36 weeks and 36cm at 39 weeks so mw said baby probably had a growth spurt at 34 weeks and then his growth has petered out.

Don't worry babe!

apperntly big babies can be easier to birth than smaller ones

agreed! my measurements were normal for what they're meant to be ish all the way through pregnancy but i had a massive baby! lol. Riley weighed 9lb 6oz. i ate tonnes of takeaways and chocolate, but i don't think it makes much difference to their size at all, as they only get the nutrients from food xxx

I've been told i'll probably have a large baby but i'm diabetic at the moment which puts its at a higher risk have you had your sugar levels checked?

looks like im having quite a big baby too, but my hubby has really long legs, and is 6ft2 n im only 5ft1, my mw said that it depends on how tall we are,

i havent eatin too much really until recently, but dont think its worth worryin bout,

good luck hun

I am having a BIG baby too. They tested me for glucose, but it came back fine.

I think a big baby is a healthy baby! I am sure you and your baby are fine! Try to relax! Easier said than done, I know!

Im having a 'big baby' as well :) although if hes healthy i couldnt care less what size he is :)

Also seratonin we have the same due date! :) x

Is it your first baby? I am so excited, but nervous at the same time :) Are you ready for it? I am sort of, but not really... still so much to do.

I'm having the glucose tolerance test in a couple of weeks time. So I won't know until then.

I'm fine about whatever size our baby is really! i guess as it is my first baby, i'm just really scared about labour!!! :shakehead:

hiya i wouldnt worry, iv had 2 babies 1 being 9lb 3oz and the 2nd being 9lb. i used to eat aload of crap with my 1st and hardly ate with my 2nd so it doesnt affect the baby. my 2nd wasnt "big" more tall. the dr`s at the hosp scared me into thinking he was going to be 10lb and with my 1st there was no sign she was big at all.

so i really wouldnt worry, your body wouldnt make a baby a size it couldnt birth :) x

I ate loads of crap with my1st baby and they told me i was measuring really big and i was going to have a big baby well he was born weighing 5lb 12 so not the big baby they predicted lol so i dont think what you eat has much to do with it. my last baby i didn't eat much at all i was just never hungry i had my 3 meals a day and that was it, something showed up in my urine (cant remember what) saying i was starving myself and the baby and he was born 6lb 13 so not a big baby but tiny like they thought he would be cause i was starving myself (again i repeat i wasn't)
