Best time for early scan

As the title says, how early can u go for a scan to see bubs? I want to be far enough to see a heartbeat, but really want to have a scan asap as making myself ill with worry and crying.

I was thinking maybe the 10th november as by then I will be 6+4 weeks, would this be an ok date? xx

The clinics seem to count an 'early scan' between 5 and 8 weeks so think that would be a good time, think it will be bean like but with a heartbeat xx

I went with my sister for her 8 week scan and you could see the little hearbeat. At the 20 something week scan I could see two little peas, no mistaking it was a boy. You can only ask hon, they might not advertise it but if you let your GP know you are concerned, which is understandable he/she might refer you.
I read in one of Babybo's post you can pay for private scans so anything is possible!

I was thinking exactly the same hun!! I'm thinking for around 6-7 weeks but need to be referred from my doc. I don't want to wait too long but I don't want to go before there will be a heartbeat because this will scare me more! how are you doing hun? X X x

i'm having a major panic day today, so so scared about everything and have felt like crying all day, I had a little cry earlier and wrote down all my fears in the pregnancy after loss section. Just need to chill out and try and not think that everything is going to go wrong this time aswell.

Was going to ask the midwife to refer me for a scan and if she won't then I will book a private one up. Thy are £60 near me.

I went for an early scan at 6+4 and u can see a small little sac thats pulsating which is the heartbeat. Well that was mine ) You should go to ease ur worrying .. worrying is not good x

Aw hun, I have days like that too. Don't worry, its understandable that you feel like this but try to stay relaxed. if you ever need to talk you know where I am!! X

i want a scan to but near me they are £120 seems about average round oxfordshire. I am just to tight if it was half that i would have gone for it.

Ive just had one today at 7 weeks- and saw the heartbeat
i had one booked at 6 weeks - but in case you are a few days behind what you think you are - u may not see the heartbeat at 6 and then you'll panic more ( well thats what i thought/ and the advice i got from the girls on the forum when i asked about early scan) so i would 7 weeks to be safe as if you go too early you'll have to go back again - Good luck xx ps i still always have panic days - ive had two early early mcs this year and was convinced there would be nothing there today - and was thrilled to see the heartbeat but no doubt ill be stressing again by tomorrow! xx

I had one at 7 +1 and saw heartbeat, i think 7 weeks is a good time to have one as even if you are a couple of days out you should be able to see a good heartbeat without the worry. I know its rubbish waiting till scan but it will be worth it, trust me xxx

Id wait as long as you can hun. If you got your OV date out it might not be as developed as you think and you might not see a heartbeat and that will make you stress more I think 6+4 is a bit early and doesn't leave enough of a cushion for delays in implantation etc. 7-8 weeks is probably best. It may reassure you for a little bit but be prepared that before your next scan the worry will start creeping back.

I am going to reply to your other thread when I get home. you have my sympathies as I was where you are 12 weeks ago. It is not pleasant and I know how tough it is. Try and stay positive, there is every chance in the world this one will come good xxxx

yeah they gave me 3 pics - i would upload to show you what you'll see but i have no idea how to upload it
i would def say book for around the 7week mark - ive felt better / less stressed the last few days probably because i knew the scan was upcoming!

The epu will only see u if u have bleeding or spotting or have ectopic signs etc. I'm hoping because of my first mc that I can get them to scan me, if not I will pay for a private scan.

I know I should wait til 7 weeks, i am feeling a bit better about waiting a little longer this morning.

Hols if u click on go advanced, u can add pic that are on ur computer with the manage attachments bit. Xx

The EPU told me to come back at 7 weeks for internal scan with my next pregnancy - by that point they will be able to see all they need to.

Of course they said if I have any problems to go back earler.

I know it seems such a long time to wait

(Kanga I just got my BFP yesterday and am a day behind you !! I plan to go aroud 17th / 18th Nov for my early scan)

I was scanned at 6 weeks and couldnt see a heartbeat, they advised me to go back a week later to check if its a viable pregnancy, i spent all week worrying, went back a week later and peanuts little heart was beating away if you can try and wait til you are about 7 weeks just to save yourself the stress incase its too early to pick up a heartbeat xx

Indeed - 14th November is my OH's Birthday (and the day we move into our new office at work) so I am going to go later that week. I'll onlty be 7w exaclty on that day.

It's good to have all these little 'mini' things to look forward too.

Just realised (and I am jumping way ahead of myself here) but if all goes OK the 12 week scan should be the week before Xmas - what a Christmas gift hey?
