Hiya,

I decided to try a little routine with Libby from this week. I started y'day and wanted to do the following routine: 8pm start the wind down - washing her (top & tail or bath)/dressed in babygro & into bedroom for feed/put her to bed.
Last night went really smoothly, tonight not so much.....but thats not a problem as we're being realistic so we're not expecting her to take to it overnight.
Last night she went to sleep at 8.30, woke at 12.30 fed & went straight back to sleep, then woke again at 4.15 and was awake until 6.30 then slept until 8.30.
I just wondered what peoples opinions/ experiences are with starting aroutine with a 5 week old? Am I trying this too early?

As always, thanks in advance

Sorry, no advice but rather than copy your post, I was going to ask the same tomorrow when Jade is also 5 weeks so now two of us asking the same advice so hopefully double the help. :D

keep up with the routine hun i started it with C about a week ago he has a bath about 8pm followed by a big feed usually tops up about 10 with a smaller feed and so far in the last week hes slept through from 10 till about 7 three times the other nights hes woke up at about 1-2 had a very small feed and fallen back to sleep on the bottle
last night we put him down at 10 and hes still fasto :cheer:
hope libby settles into a routine for you soon xxxxxxxx

ive had rhys in a routine since that age... keep it up!!!!

Thanks All,

She went to sleep last night at 10pm, she then slept until 5.30am  thats the longest stretch of sleep EVER! What a clever girl! She then fed and slept again until 8.30am!

She's napping now as she's been grizzly all day and hasn't had a nap since she woke this morning - don't know if this is gonna be a problem for tonight, but we'll see.

I'm gonna keep to the routine, better wake her up so I can start trying to get her back to sleep - doh! :rotfl:

Wish me luck

We started routine from day one, with Ruby in her nursery and she started sleeping through from 7 weeks :cheer:

We bath, bottle and bed at around 6.30pm, she is always asleep by 7pm. We then feed her/change bum at 11pm, and she settles down again and sleeps until 7am.

It was hard work, we had to be disciplined if we were out being home by 6 to start routine but now she knows her routine and even if we are out at friends, we stick to changing her into baby gro, feeding her and she crashes out in her car seat/sofa!! We feel very lucky as she is so good, and everyone comments on what a contnt baby she is

Good luck, stick to it and you will soon be reaping the rewards of a full nights sleep!!!

I had to do the same as you tonight Em, wake him up to get him back to sleep!!!!

Well, I woke her up, changed her into her babygro, fed her & she wouldn't go in the Moses, so she's in her Nursery in her big cot - she was fast asleep by 8.30 and I haven't heard a peep since (well other than a couple of farts :rotfl: )

Might go in and change her bum & give her a feed before I go bed in 10 mins, that might go one way or the other, I'll let you know tomorrow whether I watch my recorded trash tv tonight or tomorrow afternoon :rotfl:
