Figured I'd write my birth story this time round!

Started out on the 6th of August - hence my first labour thread!! Regular contractions down to 2-3mins apart, but not too painful! Was excited that was it, especially as I was more than ready for bubs to be out!! Phoned MLU to get birthing pool ready, and being the kind soul I am, thought I would let DH get some sleep before we headed down.

However by midnight I was unconvinced, and by 2am contractions had virtually stopped!! false labour again!!

For the next 10days I was contracting on and off. Regular bouts of contractions usually about 3-4mins apart!! Very frustrating not know whether or not they were going to keep going.

On Thursday the 15th I woke with contractions, which at 7mins apart lasted all day. DD1 was dispatched to in laws for the afternoon, and by tea time ish I was back down to 3-4mins although not hugely painful! The fact that they had been going all day made me quite hopeful!

Got to MLU, with tens machine on, everything very relaxed!! DH even went out to bring in fish suppers!! Had a check over and a bit disappointed to discover I was only 3cm, but as DD moved quite quickly I wasn't too worried.

Wandered around for a while using tens machine, and eventually got in the pool about 10pm. Contractions still not too sore and using no pain relief other than the water at this point!

Unfortunately LOs heart rate got a little erratic by around 1am so had to get out the pool for monitoring.

Have to say the difference being in the water makes to contractions was immense!! Getting back onto land really felt like someone had upped the volume on them very quickly!!

Unfortunately I was still only 4cm :( and after a couple of tracings the drs decided I had to be transferred to hospital - cue 45min ambulance ride - not comfy at all!!

But when we got to hospital bubs seems ok, which was a relief. My contractions however had really started to drift away again - was not impressed that this looked like another bought of false labour!! :(. A quick exam at 4am showed I was still only 4am 4cm. A big bulge of waters was sitting just below baby's head stopping it acting on the cervix properly. At this point MW advised I was really still in latent phase of labour so there was no point in being in labour ward - it could go on for a fair while.

We were having a discussion of where to go instead (DH snoring in the corner by this point) - I had the option of the recieving ward (where I had been the previous weekend and really wanted to avoid!!) with DH being sent home (30mins away) or us both going home. Was getting organised to go home, anything to avoid being in the hospital, and aiming to go back to MLU for my water birth when suddenly there was a horrendous pain in my side

Cue the exploding vagina!!! My waters had gone!! Well that changed this just a little - no more going home!!

It all went thick and fast from their! We went for a wee stroll round the corridors to try and move things along a bit, but contractions were coming so hard and fast that it didn't last long before I had to come back in.

At this point I was extremely tired having been labouring for not far off 24 hours all in - and the sudden jump in contraction strength meant I opted for morphine!!

Didn't take too long before DD2 made her appearance. In an almost identical fashion to her sister we had 3 hours of "real labour" and my little bundle popped out at 6.56 at 39+2. (DD1 was 5.55 @39+2!!)

8lbs 6oz and nameless for a while!!

Am now resigned to the fact that that if I manage to convince hubby to try again its probably unlikely ill get my water birth. My 'real' labours seems to come hard and fast and I don't think I could cope without the drugs! Lol. But least ill know If the pains manageable its probably false!!

Not quite sure how long I tell folk I was in labour for though - 10 days of false labour, 22hours with early labour or 3hours of medical labour. Lol.

You did amazing lorna! Bless you I really felt for you having all the false labours! But she's here now and absolutely gorgeous, I adore her name too! Congratulations xxx
