What do you give your babies when they have the cold? Maddison has a cold and last night woke up crying every 30 mins  I dont know if its the cold that is making her wake up or if more teeth are coming but while teething in the past she hasnt been this bad so am assuming the cold is doing it! :( I'm so tired and hubby is away all week so cany take the night shift in turns :( Help!

Hi Snuggle.

When Asher has a cold, he wakes up because his nose is blocked. He won't sleep unless he can breathe through his nose.

We tried everything. Good preventatives are karvol drops and baby vapour rub. I put the karvol on his cot bumper and I either put the rub on his chest and back or just smear a little under his nose (I don't think the under nose application is recommended but I had it as a child and Ash is fine with it).

But the best thing to clear his nose immediately if it is blocked are saline drops. I use Nasosal (get them from Boots). Just squeeze some drops up each nostril and his nose unblocks in seconds.

If it's general cold aches and pains, then I guess just calpol or nurofen for babies.

Snuggle heres my must have essentials for a cold!

- Karvol drops
- Karvol fan
- Nasosal drops - amazing
- Kleenex balm tissues to stop sore noses
- A big pillow or two pillows to pop them up a bit, there not newbs anymore so pillow essential!
- Baby vaporub

And before i put the brats to bed i give them a warm bath with plenty of lavender in it to make them relaxed and sleep and the bath helps dislodge the snot as well so the drops are easy to get up there.
