Back to work today (father)

So my 2 weeks paternity and weeks holiday went by so fast! I've been at work just over a hour and feel like I should be writing out my notice to quit! I really do. I've never felt so depressed since my mum died and feel like I should be at home my babys mother is on her own and has so many hours with my son, I'm partly jealous I suppose but I feel there is somewhere else other than here which I need to be!

It must be so hard, I wish paternity cover in the UK was better. Is there anyway you can go part time or short days for a bit?

Not really as we're quite busy and I'm already being hounded to do overtime on Saturdays! It's hard to say no when they pressure you but I don't want fall out with my bosses but also I need to support my partner and baby?

Talk to your partner. Can you bargain with the over time and get some extra time off as the baby gets bigger and starts to do more? I know you'll want to be ther enow, but it depends who else is around to support your partner and if you want more time once the baby is more interactive

Hi know this is a little old, but maybe ask your employer if you can take extended paternity leave. It is detailed on direct.gov. You are only allowed to have it off when you're partner goes back to work though. It is tough for fathers. I don't think people fully appreciate how much it changes your perspective to work/life etc. I know since I found out about being pregnant I simply don't care about work anymore which is very unlike me.
