The sonographer told me today that little man is back to back, i asked if this was why i was having such bad backache but he couldn't answer me as its not his job too.
But he did say that they pften do move about alot so he would turn around.
But i was wondering if this was the cause for my backache???? And how does a back to back baby make you have backache????

Sorry if i sound dumb here.

Found this for you
the past few days my back pain has got worse
i think its the same as you Coller moves in to back to back position and the pressure of him leaning in to my back causes pain.
if you can imagine the babies back bum and head pressing into the samll of your back its no wonder our babies are hurting us
the little monkies :shakehead: :shakehead: :shakehead:

hope your pains goes and that your little one moves around soon
sarah

I'm not sure it made much difference to me, but having said that she moves so much, and i do get back ache when sat down a lot now.
I'm kinda hoping she'll settle in to her head down facing me position soon but i doubt it lol.
Only perk of her being back to back is you get to see amazing kicks from the front lol

Hi there,

Just popped in as will be moving here soon! My son was back to back and was told toooo late to get a birthing ball (one of those exercise balls from Argos does the same trick) to help try and move him into a better position and genty rock backwards and forwards. Another was to sit to sit on a chair the wrong way round so you stradde your legs facing the back of the chair.. and gently rock this came from midwife but again told too late not sure how soon you can do this... if you can ask your midwife I would as I DONT want to put anyones babies in danger by advising you doing this excercises TOO EARLY

Hope this kinda helps
Take care

Mine liked back to back for ages. I used to get terrible back ache.

You can do the old kneeling on all 4's and rocking backwards and forwards to encourage LO to move. I found it really does work as gravity does its thing and motion causes LO to change position. I was doing this 3-4 times a day, for about 15-30 minutes at a time.

Defo before bed as I found that was when my back ache was the worst.

Also look to propping yourself tilting slightly forward when sitting rather than slouching back as this encourages LO to get cosy in the curve of your spine. Sitting forward and straigher slightly means LO can't get so comfy back to back and is more likely to not go for that position.

My son was back to bak when I was in labour. The midwife said this was why my labour pains where as intense in my back as they were in my stomach. Your baby has plenty of time and room to shift around as yet....So, I am sure you will be great :)

And yes, I believe it would add to backache :(
