Hi all, I'm about 4.5 weeks along and my back has been killing me for the last 2 days, the pain is going down my leg too. Had to sleep with a heat pack on my back as it was so bad. Is back pain normal at this stage? What can I do to help it?

I would always suggest giving your GP a ring just to clarify as it could be a sign of goodness knows what!

As an aside, I'm sorry you're suffering! Pregnancy seems to come with all sorts of aches and pains, even early on!

xx

Yeah I know it can be an early miscarriage sign. :( Can't just ring the GP here in Australia, have to make an appointment. It seems to be backing off a bit so hopefully all is well. I tore all my mid/lower back muscles a few years ago and they still ark up from time to time, so I'm thinking maybe the hormones are causing it to hurt again... hopefully that's all it is anyway!

Hi, I have had back ache on and off. Seems to be when I do more than normal. As long as no blood should be ok. Just book in with gp ask them I know if England they think it's probably most common time for back ache in the early weeks xn

Thanks. That's reassuring :)

Can't see the doctor until Monday at the earliest. Honestly there's no point, if something is gonna go wrong no one can stop it. Not had any blood and the pain is much better now, so I'm remaining positive that I just have a crap back :P

I'm sure it'll be ok, it will be hormones maybe. My goes a but stiff and achy. I've got cramps this morning again :-(

Yeah, you're probably right. :)

Aw don't worry, I think the cramps will continue on and off for quite a while yet. I still have them sometimes too but they're definitely a lot less painful than they were a week ago.

Yeah mine too. I think a week ago it was more persistent and now they are on and off and lighter. Just such an uncertain time isn't it. X

Definitely! At least we're feeling pretty much the same things so that's reassuring. When are you due? I'm due Jan 20, we must have really close due dates.

January 17th but cos I have blood issues it's likely I'll be induced at 37 -40 weeks. Yes probably just uterus adjusting. I don't remember this with my daughter probably just forgot cos j had bad sickness for months with her. Xx

3 days apart! :) Its still early, I'm sure the sickness will kick in and make you forget the cramps soon enough.

Hope so, I'm just not very positive as I've lost three before. Can't look that far ahead really my emotions won't let me :-( X

Just take it one day at a time. Once you pass the point where you had your losses, you'll start to feel better x

Low back pain was one of my earlier pregnancy symptoms in all my pregnancies. It calmed down after a week or two.

I had back pain and still get it sometimes I'm 10 weeks now

Thank you, yeah that's the key just got my scan through 11th June 8+2 fingers crossed X

I had horrendous back pain all the way up until 10 weeks, I needed a hot water bottle, I thought it was the begging of another mc it was so bad, turns out it’s just normal for me, I’ve just had a scan and I’m almost 13 weeks with a very active baby! , hope that helps x

Thanks guys, that makes me feel better. The pain hasn't been as bad today, and it is sometimes in my hips and backside now (yay) so I'm guessing its just everything stretching. Not fun, but it'll be worth it!

How you doing winter. I've got bad backache this morning and had really bad period pain last night. No blood as yet but not feeling positive now z

Hi Sarah. I'm doing good, 5 weeks today! My back pain still comes and goes but it's much better now. I find exercising helps it (walking, lunges etc). It was awful when I made this post and I'm ok so don't worry too much. I still get period cramps on and off too. Some have been pretty sharp but the majority are mild. It's all normal. Other than that I feel a little nauseous if I go more than a couple of hours without eating, I'm more tired than before, and my boobs hurt quite a lot. Do you have any other pregnancy signs? You've made it to 5 weeks, so that's a good sign!
