The last few feeds Harrison will finish feeding & just sit there with nipple in his mouth. If I pull him off he cries & roots around like he's hungry but if I put him back on he just sits there! I know he's definitely finished as its after 30-40 minute feeds, and he doesnt actually suckle. I have to leave him there til he falls asleep, then I can pull him off

Why would he suddenly start doing this? He's 6 weeks on Friday. Should I just pull him off or just leave him to it? Its just making feeds take quite a bit longer!

Its around the agr they havr a growth spurt so by staying on they are sending messages to your body to produce more.
My boy still does it in the evening. He will eventually unlatch himself. Xxx

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Evan does it whenever boob makes him sleepy. But I'm lucky that he's very efficient with his feeds as he only normally feeds for 10 minutes maximum xx

Oh wow, I wish Harrison only took 10 mins. It makes nightfeeds so hard, as I'm up for over an hour each time! He can feed for up to 45 minutes & then with nappy changes & this new dummy thing, and settling him back down it just takes agessss.

My LO never refused to comfort suck as a newborn. She would spit out the boob and ask for my finger to suck on, or suck on her hand (she never accepted a dummy). At about 8 weeks she took to comfort sucking on my boob and now regularly uses me as a dummy. I try to let her do iit as much as possible because she has had trouble putting on weight so I recon it's good for her. She doesn't actually eat anything most of the time though just likes it to sleep. She is happy to stay like that for hrs though. I have taken to lying down on my side to feed her once or twice a day so that at least I get a rest at the same time. The good thing is that it is an easy way to get her to sleep as she tends to resist sleep and get over tired which leads to a lot of loud screaming. She has gotten much quicker with her actual feeding time though and night feeds are much quicker. I suspect her comfort sucking has increased my supply so she gets more milk quicker now. At 6 weeks feeds were regularly taking an hr and she fed every 2 hrs by the time I had winded her and changed her nappy I was lucky to find time to pee! she still feeds frequently but her actual feeding time started getting much shorter from about 8 weeks and is now only about 10 mins so at least I can cut her 'dummy' time short when I need to.
