madi keeps being sick after her feeds and its not a little bit its like the whole lot

the docs dont think its nothing but im not sure

any advice to help her please

Hi Hev

I don't know much about this but do you think Madi might be allergic to the formula? Maybe changing to another brand might help?

Or could it be wind? Is it projectile vomiting or more like posseting?

It's worrying when you see all their milk coming back up, Olivia went through a stage of being very sicky around 7 wks old (I think it was 7wks!) and I became obsessed watching her fontanelle (as I was told if it is really dipped its a sign of dehydration).

Its amasing that a little sick looks like alot, ewan did it all the time.
If she is putting on weight as she should be then i wouldnt worry.

Stanley was like this at first, and was diagnosed with reflux. As soon as I changed his milk to Cow and Gate Comfort (as tipped off by Tankett  ) he was fine and we've had no problems since.

If you think it's whole feeds she's throwing back, have another word with the HV, but don't worry, I'm sure it's nothing serious

the milk madi is on it what she has been on from birth and she never had the problem before

what are the signs of reflux? and what can you do about it???

reflux is just projectile vomiting of most or all of a feed. Stanley would do it about 15-20 mins after finishing a bottle, but only once or twice a day.

I believe the best way of treating it is to give the baby thicker milk. Some formulas are thicker (like Stanley's Comfort or SMA Staydown which you can get on prescription) or you can add Gaviscon powder to thicken it up (available on prescription).

I think it's pretty common, particularly in prem babies where the stomach valves might not be fully developed yet. There's quite a few babies on here who have it, Sami is your expert though! :D

that really sounds like madi!

its not every feed but it is about 20 mins after an she is sick like that women out of little britian :rotfl:

Stanley seemed to choke on it once and was really distressed, I took him to A+E which was a bit of an overreaction but he was only a week old at the time.

They diagnosed Gaviscon but I think it was the SMA gold that wasn't suiting him because as soon as we switched it never happened again. He still gets wind/colic poor little boy, but I reckon he just has a sensitive tum.

What milk does Madi take? Is she still on the breast?
