Who's having one?

What do you have planned?

I have loads of ideas but would love to see everyone else's, either your own or one you've been too and thought it worked really well? Xxxxx

I still haven't decided if I want one or not... Have been to 4 last year and decided that the game oriented party is not my thing. I was thinking of throwing myself a 'Prepare Me' day where my friends who already have babies can tell my their birth stories and share experience in order to prepare me for mine. I think I would enjoy that more.

The once I've been to last year had a few interesting games, I've listed the best once (in my opinion) here;
- using a bit of a string the guests try to estimate the size of your pregnant belly and then they wrap it around your belly to see how close they got
- you can print a few different baby scan pictures of the internet and get them guessing which body part is on each of the pictures (I didn't do so well)
- you can get them to guess the baby's weight, date and time of birth and prepare a little gift for the person that wins, so they have something to fight for

Good luck x

Im having afternoon tea with the work ladies and a bbq with my side of the family, so not really baby showers but i don't want to be the centre of attention so this is all im happy with lol looking forward to them though! And most of my close friends are male as they're hubbys friends now too, so they wouldn't really fancy a baby shower xx

I don't think im bothering... I always saw baby showers as more of a someone else does it for you kinda thing... It's my birthday a few weeks before due date so will be doing lots of nice things then anyway so think that will be my little celebration at the same time! Plus I don't have massive group of friends, just more individual friends.
Hope you get some good ideas though - Pinterest is amazing for things like this!! Xxxxx

Thanks ladies. Ever since I wanted a baby I've been excited about the baby shower, just a personal thing and they are massive in liverpool. My mum and best friend are organising mine but I cant sit back and just let them do it I'm a nightmare haha!! All your plans sound lovely! Xxxx

I'm another one who isn't having one :) it was my birthday last week and we had family and friends round for a bbq which I was more than happy with as I also don't like being the centre of attention!

I agree, Pinterest will be great for ideas!

I'm having a baby shower next week. Really looking forward to it! Wanted it to be before I finish work and kids finish school etc.. I've organised it with my sister, so itt may seem odd doing your own but I have friends from different groups so would have tricky letting just one person do it anyway. We're doing games like ,
pin the dummy on baby,
Guess the amount of sweets in a baby bottle,
My bump size
Baby's birth weight - ( as we already know gender)
A piñata

And putting on some nibbles and its just a little get together really. Nothing fancy. I would hate that! All of your plans sound lovely, afternoon tea was something I thought of too.

I had a baby bbq, organised by mum and cousin. Was basically a bbq with my best friends and they all stayed I to the evening and their husband turned up with mine for more food! Loved seeing them all before the baby arrives and no games were played! X

We're having a big one! hubby and I have thrown out all the traditions of it being 'just ladies' - (just an excuse for a party really!) We know we're having a boy so themed accordingly -We've hired a really pretty village hall with a marquee and are having afternoon tea style food (scones etc) along with some finger food based around the poem 'frogs & snails & puppy dogs tails, that's what little boys are made of' - Im planning snail shell tortilla wraps and cocktail sausage puppy dog tails etc. I've got blue and white decorations / centrepieces and blue cocktails (both alcoholic and non alcoholic using blue Curaçao / monin syrup).
I've also organised lots of games:
- guess the poop (melting different chocolate bars in nappies and getting teams to taste and guess haha)
- guess the ultrasound (different animals in the womb)
- celebrity baby quiz
- 'Mr & Mrs' style quiz (my brothers writing the questions which should be funny)
We'll have a table with 'baby stats guessing sheets' - pics of me and hubby as babies /
and I'm hoping it will just be a really lovely sunny day in the countryside for all our friends and family to enjoy! I can't wait!! :)
I'm still deciding whether to hire someone to do the baby shower cake or attempt it myself - I really like those cupcake towers with the giant one on top :) ...
Ooo it's all so exciting!! And Pinterest is AMAZING!!
Xxx

Wow summer sounds amazing!!!!

Think I'm having mine at OH's Mum's because her garden is huge. Hiring a bouncy castle for the kids but only inviting ladies and their children , bit of a tradition in liverpool haha! I'm lucky as my step mum is a cake maker so she's doing that and some cupcakes, getting balloons and a gazebo plus buffet style food.
Games are pretty much the same as everyone's mentioned ;
Guess size of the bump
Notes for everyone to fill in guessing DOB, weight, who she will be like, what we will call her etc love little keepsakes like that.
Pictures of us both as baby's too
Guess how many sweets are in the bottle

:) xxxx

We literally had 2 different gatherings. One was a baby gathering for family only and on the same day was Annabel's remebereance day so we had cream tea and cakes with a few gifts and let off a dozen pink balloons with message tags for our loved ones and Annabel who would have been 1. Then my friends through me another baby gifting day mainly orientated round yum yum cakes, coffee and birth talk. No games and no messing...just a social get together xx

Aww Sounds awesome bunny - the bouncy castle is such a great idea - though you'll be itching to get on it!!! (Well I would be  ) maybe just a gentle bounce when you have it to yourself haha ...
Xxx

I won't be having one, I feel it's something that someone else should organise for you as it seems like you're just asking for gifts, that's just my opinion. I did organise a surprise one for a friend of mine but I'd never been to one previously so I was a bit of an amateur. It was in our local and ordered a buffet and got some amazing buns made. Did guess the date and weight where we all put £2 in and the winner bought a prize for the baby x

I didn't have one with my daughter and won't be having one this time either. I have friends in two different areas due to moving and sadly some of my friends hate each other so makes big get togethers rather awkward lol x

I have never had one. But love going to friends baby showers. I hate being the centre of attention xx

Never had one myself but these all sound really fun, loving your ideas , esp the snails etc summer !

It is nice to have an excuse to get together before birth , id do an afternoon baby tea at home as I often do them but think people will feel obliged to purchase a gift for baby or clothes, which I hate and plus with so many boys we don 't really need or have room for anything new ;) so I won 't do one too close

Anyone who has one , do post piccys tho x

I had mine yesterday. Organised by my mum and my friend. We had afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes. There was a photo booth with various props and a guest book. I just wanted to get everyone together before baby arrives. My friend also created a guess the sex/date/weight game and each guest had to put their finger print in the book to show they'd been there!! We also decorated baby grows each. There were some really cute ones!!xx I loved every second of it!!xx

My friend is organising a meal and a few close friends, my family have already spoilt us rotten which was lovely and unexpected got lots of clothes and the nursery is almost done :) xx
