My birth story..... Started typing this yesterday and lost it before I got to post. On 12th April 2014 at 40 +2 I woke up at 8am wit strong braxton hicks. I wasn't too sure if it was labour even though it been number 4 u would think I should know. I went over between 6 and 14 days with the others so this was pleasant surprise only going over by 2 days. I went to the bathroom twice as bowels opened sorry tmi but I thought this was cause of cramping. Had breakfast shower etc and by 10am I knew the pains were not going away. I bounced on the ball wit my 20 mt on my knee and painting my 5 yr old and 3 and half yr old nails as they pleaded to know where we were going for the day. No time for labour in peace in my house. Little did they know their baby brother had plans for the day to come in to the world. By 12 the pains were fairly fast and strong I wasn't timing them but I rang the labour ward and they said to take paracetamol. I explained that pains were strong and regular and again I was advised to take paracetamol. I explained I have high pain threshold and with my last labour I was only in hospital 8 mins before delivery. She said to come in when pains more regular. I explained then that I tested positive for strep b and she said if that is the case come in and we will put you on drip wit antibiotics. Left home at 12.25 and arrived at admissions at 1pm. Pains on the journey in were every five minutes lasting one minute fairly painful. Asked nurse to check me when I got there but she put me on a trace. I could only lie for 15 minutes too restless with the pain. Asked again to check me as I said baby comes with the waters again she said I needed to lie down. I asked for third time to check me and when she did I was 6-7 cm!! The registrar came in to put cannula n my hand for antibiotics for strep b which I explained she was wasting her time as I was not going to b around for 4 hours. I eventually got up took trace off and said I need gas and air. She said she would get a wheelchair to take me to the labour ward I said I needed to use the bathroom and she said wait until labour ward. I said I would walk up. We collected my husband I'm the waiting room on the way up any in the elevator pain was really bad. Arrived n labour ward at 1.53pm and nurse said I don't think we have a room I said I need a room. Admissions nurse handed me gas and air and said don't push until nurses are ready !!!! I asked my husband to take off my knickers leggings and shoes and I said I am ready to push. She said hope up on the bed and waters broke she said small push, head was delivered then another small push and baby up on my chest within 5 mins of walking into labour ward!!! Our baby boy was born at 1.58pm. He was 7lb7oz and screamed within seconds. Grade 2 meconium was n the waters but he was ok thank god.
