i dont want a name that is too common and that there will be 2 or 3 of in a class at nursery/school

wat position in the baby name charts do you think i need to go for?

do you think i need to avoid say the top 50?

i really need to sort names :rotfl:

im ok for a boys name as the one we have chosen is position 5 thousand and something :rotfl:

That was my thoughts as well. However, there is a good chance there will at least another Aimee in the class when she goes to school! I would avoid anything in the top 20! There would bound to be a good few others with that name! As long as you are happy with the name that is all that matters.

I joked with my friend last week that I should just call her Raspberry as I was drinking a LOT of Raspberry Schnapps the night she was conceived... I was also dressed as a ladybug due to it being a halloween night out! I doubt there would any other girls called Raspberry in her school! :rotfl:

Yeah i'd say that about right :) my chosen boys name.. Cooper will prob not even be on the chart! Are you keeping the name secret? Don't think i've seen you mention it xx

i love the name cooper, thats very nice

yeh we havent mentioned the boys name, i know it sounds silly but we dont want to jinx it incase anything goes wrong, im a worrier lol

I personally dont want anything in the top 100, but i havnt looked recently to see if any of my list are in it lol.

i would def avoid the top 20, possibly 50, but tbh with boys names the most popular hardly ever change, and they're the traditional names which i dont think you could ever really be considered too common for naming a child

Thats fair enough i thought i'd be reaaly bad like not buying anything and not naming him etc but i've got everything and i've chosen the name! lol. I was a real worrier but strange i know but pregnancy has really chilled me out on that front. Thanks for saying you like Cooper alot of people don't like it but i do and its not that common.

I've done the same, i feel so much more mellow then before, and i realise just how silly little worries were, like about money etc.

I like Cooper too, it's unusual, but not in a wierd way, no-one could mispronounce of mispell it really, its the kinda name i want for Tally.

i really like cooper, its very cool but not weird at all if you get me

i am really struggling for a girls name and i just know my bump will be awkward and be pink :rotfl:

ahh well i best get the books out just incase

becky i was just looking at your bump pic and i think it looks pink  :rotfl:

Aimee was at no 75 last year so it's not that popular, i dont think you'll have any problems with her sharing her name :)

Number 6, but Sophie is one of those "classic" names, plus it has a great meaning, thats why i liked Sophia so much as well.

Heres a link to the Government site for the most popular girls names of the past 5 years

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/specials/b ... _girls.asp

And one for the boys

I have a feeling you are going to have a girl too Becky!!!

I've been the same as you with the names. I found a chart that compare 2006 top 1500 with 2007 it tells you the position and by how many places and by what percentage they have gone up or down the chart.
I started changing my mind on loads of names cos they'd risen like 90 places or something. DH had to ban me in the end and said 'stop looking at it and lets just choose something that we like'
This is the link if anyone wants to be as obsessive as me!!!! :rotfl:

I have tried to stay away from the top 50 tho, so that's prob a good idea if you don't want anything too popular.

Jacob was number 20 last year and Chloe is quite high up too, pregnancy brain I can't remember the exact position :rotfl:

When I was PG with Jacob, I didn't look at the popular names lists at all - he was going to be Sophie if he was a girl.

I really like the name that we have chosen so like Miss Monroe I am sticking with it :D

Xxx

I went for Rebecca as it's one of few names that works in Dutch and in English.

You should opt for "Pocahontas" like someone in my locality did.

I was going to have Addison if little girl Addy for short :D just thought it was soo cute and girly. Did like Darcey too xx

Clare thats what i thought Cooper is different but not too different. I really like the name Tally.. Are you still thinking of other names? xx

We have our little mans name and i have looked at all those top 100 name charts and there isn't one mention of his name ANYWHERE and i have never heard a baby been called it in England, so i'm just hoping that everyone else likes it when my really great text buddy (jodie) announces that i have had him.........lol.

Faith was number 74 last year... not bad really, if she was a boy she would be Jack - which has been top for the last 5 years! Lol.

I think that whilst it is nice to be a bit unique it can go too far and be odd. Lol.

I like Cooper - as everyone has said, it's different without being bizzarre!

BeckyJ - i picture you with a pink bundle too! You have 42 days to register the birth of mini-Becky so you've got time to decide! And he/she may come out and just look like a certain name!
