Hi Ladies,

My apartment isn't massive, so I am thinking is there a need to buy a baby monitor? Bascially, bubs room is about 7 meters from ours, we sleep with our door open a bit anyway and I would have the baby's door ajar. So, paying out 80 quid would be worth it? Or you think we'd be fine?

I am asking as I don't want to spend money that could be spent wisely, else where for the baby, if we don't need it.

I used to live in a tiny apartment when I had Tia... If I slept with my door open and her's open...I could easily hear her in the night... Now we live in a four bed apartment and its a lot bigger so I have got a monitor... if your place is small, its a bit of a waste, and for the first few weeks they are usually in with you anyways.. AND it doesn't matter if you have a monitor or not, you will still get up in the middle of the night in a panic,....run in there and check they are all right... :rotfl:

lol my hubby is the money maker at the moment, I do get maternity pay but it's not a lot, so trying to save pennies for the bigger things bubby needs. I always thought that those baby monitors were a rip off, I remb you could get them for 20 quid and now you have to pay like, 70 quid now!

And I know I'll be up every hour watching over him, well, that's if I sleep at all lol

I got mine of ebay for a fiver its works perfectly and looks brand new :D

even tho millie can hav an ear-piercing scream at times, i cannot hear her if she is upstairs and i am downstairs, or if im in the shower. but ours is a big ol victorian house. we got our monitor off ebay its a brand new philips one (do they call it "seconds" or something? where the box is missing but otherwise its fine, not second hand or anything) for only £30
its up 2 u tho, if u dont need one u dont need one!

we never had one as you can hear a baby a mile off when there screaming haha

we only just brought now alana is in a proper bed as she creeps out and gets into our bed while were downstairs

Get one frm ebay
i did
when i lived in my 3 bedroomed house
but then i moved to my amazing flat i dnt need it anymore i just have it there lol

I find my useful aswell for if we stay at friends and used it on holiday D is still in our room but use it mostly when he is in bed and we haven't gone to bed...
I have a strange son who doesn't cry when he is hungry just sucks his thumb loudly so i need the monitor don't think that is usual though

we got one but it was a waste of money really as the walls and floors are paper thin (you can hear somebody weeing from downstairs  :rotfl: )
it might be more useful when he is in his own room at the front of the house

Sounds just like mine trixie, i got it all brand new with intructions nut no box and works fine.

nathan sleeps in our room in his crib but i still have a monitor ( tommee tippee one with sensor mat) but just purely for my own peace of mind and i still look across to make sure i can see the light flashing

A bit like vicki1983.. Isaac is in his cot in our room with a Tommee Tippee sensor mat with light, I never worry when he sleeps with us but when in his cot that flashing light is such a calming relief. We too live in a flat, we never use the sound monitor, strange noises would come through it, so just use the sensor mat under his mattress, and if alarm sounds we'd hear it in the room it being a flat :)

we got our moniter from argos and it cost £20 its a fisher price one.

we have our baby in with us and a small room we have no choice cause were living at his parents and they live in a bungalow and space is limited. i spent £50 quid on the baby monitor thing with tescos think it was £59.99 or somethig at the time. has B n white monitor. anyway the monitor is in the lounge and the camera is pointing at her. so anyone can attend to her not jsut me if were up :)
