Well have tried to do this several times but being a mummy is rather busy work!

My gorgeous little princess Megan arrived on Tuesday 2nd October 2012 at 00.52 weighing 8lbs and 1oz.

All started Saturday morning with little pains, and not sleeping all night, all this stopped Sunday morning and cue me becoming despondent. Had midwife who gave me a sweep and low and behold just a few hours later labour started.

Spent all day Sunday in a little pain, using my TENS towards the end of the day, which I must say is fab! Didn't sleep all Sunday night, just paced round and round, getting in and out of the bath and trying to sit down/lie down but pain to intense when sat/led, so actually did the whole night on my feet.

Monday morning came and pains continued to get worse, we called the midwife unit and asked when would be best to come down, explained contractions were coming between 2 and three minutes lasting for roughly a minute to minute half each. Was told to go down when we liked, so an hour later we ventured down, the most painful car journey ever!

Was examined and found to be 5cm dilated, so glad! Ran the pool and got in an hour or so after getting there, pool was lovely and hubby was masaging me and making sure I was eating and drinking properly/

Examined by midwife at 8pm and told no change, would see what happens and examine again at 10. 10 came and midwife said still no progress so would break waters, she broke waters and then gave us the bad news, only actually 4cm dilated, something to do with baby head pressing on cervix and not being in correct place. I became rather disheartened, contractions knocked up a gear, and I started on gas and air. This is where it gets sketchy as I was out of it for the rest of the birth.

Hubby had to help with this bit:

Examined again and told no progress, and she felt needed to speak to doctor re: hormone drip for making things quicker, told her that would therefore want epidural. So moved on to main unit.

Attempts were made to put in hormone drip, could not get a vein, anaesthetist turned up to do epidural, I was telling them all I wanted to push, and so did push. Was being told to breath on gas and air and stop pushing, was examined and midwife said babies head was making me feel like pushing.

My blood pressure dropped, baby heart rate dropped and midwife started to put cap on babies head, was very surprised to find that I was now fully dilated and babies head was right there ready to be born! So in space of approx 20 minutes I had gone from 5cm to 10cm! Have no idea how that works!

Was told that was going to have my baby now, I remember saying yes I know that Ive been doing that for several hours! Told to push, and midwife had no time to call in back up as instead of doing things slowly, I pushed the baby out in one go! oops, hence quite a few stitches after!

That was how my gorgeous baby Megan arrived in to this world, just on gas and air, it feels so surreal as can't remember all that happened, just that the moment Megan was placed on my chest I was back in reality!

From my perspective quite a good birth, though every time I look at my daughter I think how did I push her out of there! Hubby says differently and it was the most scary time ever and so glad when all was over, which of course I was too.

So thats it, picture below, now over to baby and toddler section :)

Good luck all you ladies, enjoy every moment, it really is a wonderful experience xxxx
