Rubie is coming up for 5 months and is quickly outgrowing her moses basket. My room is tiny and I would no way fit her cotbed in there, so I know I will have to move her to her own room at some point very soon, but the thought of it just makes me want to cry. It was bad enough taking her up to bed on her own instead of letting her fall asleep downstairs and taking her up with me. I just can't seem to make that break. :(

awww babes and they think its harder for the bubs than it is for us lol where did that come from??

would u get a travel cot in ur room if ur really not comfy her going into her own room yet? or could u sleep on the floor in her room  lol

Nope, we can only just get the moses basket in our room :(

And her room is the tinest ever, there's no way I could fit on her floor, I'd have to sleep in the foetal position lol

Damien is still in my room too hunnie, he is in a cot though, he wanted to escape his moses basket and i didn't think it was safe now he wriggles so much!

I don't know what to suggest but I'm terrified of leaving Damien in his own room too :(

Kim I am in exactly the same predicament, Seren is growing out of her crib and our room is too small for her cot. Am dreading it, I would have her in our bed but am worried she will ro9ll out as she is starting to get too mobile.

After the first couple of nights it's fine, honest!

Hi

I slept on Isaac's floor for 5 months!!!! My back was breaking so I said enoughs enough and I am back in my own bed now with the intercom next to me. I get up and check on him everytime he makes a noise but its such a nice feeling to get back into my own bed that I kind of like getting up and checking on him :)

I had to make the break away aswell because I was getting very attached to sleeping next to him. Especially when we lowered his cot bed and I could watch him sleep and hold his hand through the bars. Was lovely, dont get me wrong, but I knew it wasn't healthy for me or Isaac to be that close at bedtime and I was pretty much making a rod for my own back as they say, so I nipped it in the bud and everything is fine now and Isaac still sleeps through the night and my back is nearly pain free!

Good luck

Lou :)

Am i a real meany???? :(

Jack has been in a big cot in his own room since he was 12 weeks, and to be honest i am more relaxed with him in there, now i can't panic at the slightest grunt he does.

He sleeps all night so i don't need to worry about him waking up, but i check on him alot.

She's gonna have to do it sometime hun and to be honest it would be better while she is so young and doesn't understand it properly so she can't rely on you being in the same room.

Hi yvonne

Isn't Jack your second baby though? You are bound to be more relaxed I would have thought. You live and learn and I know I'll definately be more relaxed with our next baby.

Lou :)

Yeah he is our second baby but i did the same with Amy, i didn't want them to get reliant of us being there at night,

Everyone is different,

I was going off my cousin's experience.... Her daughter was in her room til she was 7 months, so when they put her in her own room she'd scream the place down until someone lay with her til she was asleep, but then they had the problem of when she woke up in the night she'd scream cos there was no one with her.

I did't want that so i thought i'd learn them while they were too little to understand sleeping on their own etc.

But like i say everyone is different

Hi

im the same way i have to move her soon as shes getting too tall for her bassinette and when she flinches at night she hits her arms on the sides of it and it wakes her up so i think in the long run she will have more space and sleep better but im nervous that somthing will happen or her crib will break or somthing.
prob sounds stupid,
I know one thing forsure my next baby is going in his or her room from birth :? .
Good luck

Katrina

i sound worse than you Yvonne matthew was in his room at 4 weeks he wasnt settling in his moses basket so moved him to his own room and he's my first but we all sleep so much better i am now convinced that everytime he made a noise or we moved we were waking each other up. I do have the angelcare moniter that gives me total peace of mind

A lot of my worry is her adapting to sleeping in the cot rather than her moses basket because in her moses basket she is enclosed and can touch the sides, wheras her cot would be very 'open'. Also because the loft comes out of her room, OH son (19) will have to go through her room to get to his room in the loft, which I'm worried will deisturb her.

But Rubie is an excellent sleeper and never wakes before morning so I know I'm worrying over nothing. It's me, I will miss her :(

Awww Kim I know what you mean, Brody will be outgrowing his crib soon and will have to move. I'm sure we'll both sleep better when he does go into his own room but I just don't want him to yet!
It was weird when I did it with Mason, but Rubie may prefer it, just put her in the moses backet inside the cot for a few days and see how she reacts.

Good luck :)

ruben went in his big cot in his own room from 5 weeks old, and i can honestly say it's the best thing we ever did. i sleep better and ruben does too, as i'm not constantly fussing over him at the slightest grunt. i have a baby monitor so i can hear him all the time. starting from the same time he has also had all his daytime nap up in the nursery (unless we're out and he sleeps in the buggy) and his sleep improved SO much!

i defo recomend puttin babys in their on room from as early as poss.
i did with Dior at 5months and now she loves her bed would never sleep in my bed with me, even if i want her too. was hard at first thou for the first 3weeks in her own room she screamed for hrs but now

she goes to bed on her own in her own room at 8pm with the lights of and door shut even if shes not tired she will lay there and talk to her self till she nods off.

Kim, I have been putting Seren in her cot during the day to get her used to it, she hasn't slept there but she is happy enough to play and stay there. I have decided that in June she will be going in there as she will just be too big for her crib. Am dreading it, I will miss her s much as it is really nice to fall asleep watching her, plus she is a very quiet sleeper. I don't mind her waking up at night now as it is only once or twice, and I love our night feeds as it is our time. I sleep much more when she is next to me, but if she is in another room I am going to have to get up and go to her so will be wide awake. Am wondering if it is too late to ask OH if we can have an extension....hmmm...  When are thinking about moving Rubie and Brody???

I was thinking June too Beanie. Maybe we could set a date and see who chickens out!!
