this is referring to how far down into your pelvis your babies head is 5/5 is fully engaged, so you are nearly there xx

I really don't understand this either...
My midwife told me that the head was down but not engaged but wrote on my notes 5/5 !!?!!
I'm wondering has she made a mistake?

It depends on the notation protocol where you live...

So in my notes it says 4/5ths palp. This means LO is only 1/5th engaged because 4/5ths palp. means the midwive can feel 4/5ths of the head.

This could also be written as 1/5th (engaged).

So in the case of JSS, she means 5/5ths palp(able) which is the same as not engaged.

Clear as mud?
