Hi hopefully someone can help.

My little Alex has suddenly got bright red balls! Sorry to get right to the point but its starting to really worry me. In the past week they have become really red and now its spreading onto his winkle too. Its just colour, no rash or blisters or annything. My friend mentioned it might be his solids causing it?

Has anyone came across this yet?

hi hun,

i have never had that in either of my boys, no idea what that could be.

if your worried ask your HV if she has ever come accorss it, or take him to the docs just to be safe.

Ewan has had it a couple of times when he was teething, and i think its mild nappy rash, so i just put cream on it. but get it checked if your worried.

Hey,

Was at the HV todat getting Alex weighed and she had a look at the rash. To put you all straight my HV is hopeless. Had problems before when breastfeeding and all she said was, well I havent had anyone feed for as long as you so I'm not too sure. No contact no's or 'I'll find out!'

she said it looks fungal? ok I pictured mushrooms when she said that although its only little pink dots now as the colour has died down.

Doc had a look at it and explained if he is on solids now which he is that the consistency and strength of food etc can have an effect on babies skin. Ok his poo's are a lot stinkier and thicker so it made sense and he mentioned something about amonia, (think my docs see's me being intelligent but it all goes way over my head! lol) Anyways prescribed canestan which I though was for thrush? Said it could be although it not common at all anymore, was with the terry nappies but its some sort of skin irritation?

Maybe he prescribed the canesten cream cause I told him the sudo cream doesnt work?

Hi

Hi hun glad it has cleared away now with the canestan

Just a thought but prob is usless nw that its clear but seeing as you use terries do you wash them with different powder? could be that maybe but prob not but lets hope its gone for good now and at least you have the cream just incase it does peek back but lets hope it doesnt

Take care

Hey weestar,

I dont use terri's, the doc was saying it was only really common when people were using terri's. God knows how long ago it was when that was common. Was saying how hw hates terri's being promoted because of how bad nappy rash etc was then and he's rather damage the enviroment than go back to that??? I am starting to wonder about the healthcare professionals in my area! lol

I am so glad I came across this post as we noticed a couple of days ago that Charlie has the same problem and although he isnt on solids we have changed his milk to SMA Staydown which has made his number 2's abit firmer!!
Will try and get some cream to sort it out from the GP although I do have some that was prescribed when he had nappy rash at his 6 month check (timodine....strange yellow cream that has to be kept in the fridge) so might try that over the weekend first.

Hi there,

Well Alex's teething has settled down but so has the teething!!!

My mum said from the start it doesnnt look like thrush but because the cream was working i ignored it, but she pointed it out again today.

Who has heard and what is a teethinng rash???
