My four week old doesn't like going in a baby bouncer, he also doesn't really like going on the floor on his play gym.

This leaves me either holding him or putting him always flat in his moses basket (which then means he'll start flailing his arms about as he wants to be picked up)

Any suggestions? I'd really like him to be able to survey what's around him rather than being either horizontal in the basket or in my arms ...

Thanks in advance :D

harrison is almost ten weeks and he is still the same. The only place he likes to be sat is in his pram :( If I put him in his bouncer all hell breaks loose.

Emms is the same - she doesnt seem to like any baby toys either. She seems to prefer just looking at people, sometimes I put toys on the side of her moses basket looking over at her and she will look at them for a short time. Her favourite thing seems to be looking at me when I put her on my lap!

oh I'm glad it's not just me then!!

But.. what to do...

Anyone who's been through the same have any suggestions on how to get them gradually introduced to the bouncer/play gym?

Never had the problem with the playgym, but Ella used to be grumpy every time we put her in her bouncer, unless we bounced it ourselves. One day as she got older she just changed, maybe it's because she has more control over her head (It used to just flop to the side). We just kept putting her in it until she was used to it? Probably no help lol!

mine likes the baby bouncer and the play gym for about 5 mins max!

after that, the only thing she likes is to be held upright, with me or OH standing up. Yes we have to be standing up, even though it makes no difference to her own position!!!

luckily she sleeps a lot else i'd have to stand up all day

Baby smile hated his although we kept trying until he was about 10 weeks.

Then we put it away - got it out this week at 4months and he is quite happy to sit in it and play while I clean (as long as I don't leave the room) I think it is a development thing as he can know see me at a distance and reach to get the toys and stuff them in his mouth....

He used to quite like the play gym from about 10weeks plus - and is currently obsessed with this.....

it has got black and white patterns on the back of his wings and he will look at it for ages when we hang it on his playgym

lil miss had to be within 2 cms of me or she'd throw a wobbly.... it wasn't until she was about 8 weeks and started grabbing and playing with toys that she could be put down... but for 8 weeks she was either on the boob or in the sling.... :D but not lying down in the sling but upright chest to chest....
