Ok, well the bad news is that lo has been diagnosed with asthma, only mild as it only affects him when hes poorly - anyone else have this part time asthma with their children? I have a puffer for him and a infant chamber to help administer it. Hubbys been great today as he has asthma and showed me how to deal with him!

On a better note i took lo cotbed side off and only had to get up once and tell him to get back into bed! I was shocked! I honestly though i would be up and down all night so pleasd about that. Just upset about the asthma.

I feel like i should blame myself for it, despite not having it myself and not smoking during pregnancy etc.
I m noe worried that my new baby will develop it when shes born too SOB :(

aww babes, dont feel bad its not your fault..

My 2 boys both have asthma, and they only get it bad when they are poorly, cameron is the worst, and touch wood neither of them have had a bad do now for a few months, they tend to grow out of it as they get older, thats what im finding anyway.. stephen is 2 now isnt he, sorry i cant be much help.. but dont worry im sure he and your new princess will be just fine..

and good news about him sleeping in his cotbed for the first time... :cheer:

He will be three in july hun, i hope he does grow out of it, but im still upset about it all, no one wants their child ill. On the positive side the doc looked at his chicken pox this morn and couldnt believe hoe few spots he had, he said he was a lucky little chap and they were healing! yay
They gave me the medication anyways, i alwasy thought in the back of my mind that he would get asthma, but a shock getting told that he had it.

Yes great news about his sleeping arrangements!

good news about chicken pox as well..

honestly he'll be fine and if hes so good with his meds, you wont have a problem like i have lol...

Im just so sad about it, i just wanted a healthy child with no problems.I know thats selfish compared to some peoples kids health issues. But im so gutted and angry about it

its mothers instincts that make you feel like that hun,, its very normal...

here have a hug!

awww hun my lil man has asthma so i know how u feel at first i blamed myself about it all etc if u ever need to tlk or have ne advice im always here hun

I know i sound like a real moan a minute! andi will shut up i promise!

Hes miles better then what he was and has taken it all into his stride like everthing else thats happened recently!

My little girl was diagnosed with asthma at 2 1/2 following nearly a year of her coughing, not sleeping and being sick nearly all the time. We were really upset when we found out too. She was always coming down with colds and bugs and often needed extra help from steroid tablets when she was ill.

She is nearly 6 now and has barely used her blue puffer in the last year and had no steroids for 18 months, even though she picks up bugs from school a lot. As she's grown and her airways have got bigger, she definitely seems to be growing out of it, so there is plenty of hope that it won't affect your son for too long.

It is awful when something like asthma affects your children, and I think it's only natural to feel guilty about it. Please remember that there is a strong chance that he will grow out of it fairly quickly. Take care.
