Ok so I could do with earning a few extra pennies and was thinking of doing something from home like Avon, Ann Summers or Jamie Oliver parties etc...

Has anyone done any of these? Are they worth it? And do they have start up fees etc?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated :)

I've done Avon which was a waste of my time and I also used to do virgin vie makeup which was a while back but that was pretty good xx

I've not heard of virgin vie. Why did you find avon a waste of time? Not enough sales? :) xx

Tapatalking :)

Virgin vie is now called vie at home. It's gorgeous stuff. Avon was a waste because you had to go and collect books and people wouldn't leave them out nor answer the door and if they left them out for me to collect, for some reason they wouldn't put the order form with it, it was just missing. Not many repeat sales. You also have to pay for books or you did when I did it xx

I did Avon and didn't really make anything. Like tiaflame said you have to pay for books and you have to sell a lot to make it worthwhile. There are initial start up costs that get taken off your first couple of orders.

I did Avon for a few months, didn't make anything and a load of hassle, but it was a good decade ago.

I currently work for Ann summers and to be honest its the worst job ive ever had!, ive got to wait to quit though as i still owe a lot on my kit!. They charge you 3.50 a week for renting 500 quids worth of kit..If you want to work for Ann summers be prepared to pay for prizes, incentives etc out of your own pocket!, i never knew that otherwise id of never took the stupid job!

You also have to find your own parties which is incredibly stressful and you also get a lot of time wasters!..The wages are rubbish and you only get paid if you go to parties..All in all awful job and wish id of never taken it! :\

Ive had a friend do Avon and a friend so bluebella they both stopped within a month or so because the money's crap.

i was looking into this aswell.. but after reading your posts i think ill pass!!

my mum does avon and has for a while now.. she gets a few repeat sales from friends at work and neighbours.. but not worth it in the long run tbh! think shes only sticking to it as she gets money off buying stuff in the 'hello tomorrow' book.

hmmm need money!! lol
When i was younger my childminder (neighbour) used to do £10 a black bag ironing for neighbours! she made loads lmao!! but i doubt ill keep up with my own and babies let alone other peoples!!!! x

what about Temple Spa? they prefer doing smaller parties as you actually all sit with little trays and mirrors and try out all the face products that suit your skin. You basically get a salon facial! then the consultant helps you pick products that suit your skin

the stuff is gorgeous. These parties are really taking off in my area. Wish I had the time!

Hi I do Avon, but not so much for the money as for a hobby. Started last June and spent about 3 months doing a lot of pavement pounding dropping and collecting brochures (and yes, you do lose a few!), I've got about 50 customers now - not all buy each time, but generally about 20 do.
Im not doing loads of recanvassing (which is the tiresome bit) as I'm quite happy with the customers I've got to be honest) and its a good way to get to know people in surrounding streets.
I don't make much money out of it, it just pays for the stuff I buy for myself from the catalogue plus a bit more - but bear in mind you have to pay tax on profits of course so what you earn, don't get to keep it all!
I'm not sure if I'd continue if and when I get pregnant, but will decide when the time comes!
