Ask for a formal debriefing there will be a paper trail back to the mw who told you not to come in which was an error.
 
That sounds so horrific. Can't imagine how scared you must have been. I'm so glad your baby arrived safely. You should definitely follow up with a complaint about the midwife. My parents took my brother to A&E when he had appendicitis, got there and described his symptoms to the receptionist - throwing up and the telltale pain down his lower righthand side - she said "You need to go to your GP with flu symptoms" and turned away. Needless to say, my parents insisted that he was seen by a medical professional - not a receptionist - before they would leave. And it turned out that the appendix was on the verge of rupturing, which you can die from in extreme cases. That letter of complaint was lengthy, I can assure you! My parents' view was that if it stopped her making the same mistake again - with potentially life-threatening consequences - than it was worth taking action.
