atkins diet, need help

what kind of meat can you have, are sausages ok to have and meat that is marinated, i want to start it so could anyone help

I went on the atkins diet, download some stuff off the net, it will let you know exactly what you can have! I think all meat is fine.

I lost weight on it but I hate to say it is very expensive and the weight goes straight back on after you finish. You also have to watch what juice you drink a lot of stuff has carbs in.

My friend raved about Atkins, I never got my head around it to be honest so confusing to start with.....anyway said friend lost heaps of weight but sadly regained tons of it when she stopped it and resumed a more normal diet. I'm not sure about excluding such big food groups from your diet all together, have you thought about something like Weight Watchers or Slimming World, Rosemary Conely diets and so forth?
 
I went from a size 14 to a size 10 - this is how I did it:

Had breakfast
Had whatever for lunch - this can include going out and having a big fat juicy burger
Then for tea all I had was crackers and cheese, philidelphia or cottage or any that you like. I did not eat anything after around 6/7 at night.

It worked for me, then I got pregnant!!!!!!!! So obviously I will be back on this diet after april!
 
Diets are on hold for me till September time once baby is here, settled and well and I can start thinking about getting into nice clothes once more.....I lost 3 stone in 3 months before but regained it all, crash dieting just doesn't work so off to W.W or similar after Pudding makes his arrival.
 
I did it for about 5 months and I lost about 2st the weight just fell off me but like others once I stopped I couldn't stop eating chips and all the weight went back on again :(

I did it when I lived on my own and found it reallly easy but then tried it again when living with DH and he complained that my breath smelt. I found it much much harder to stick to it when DH was around cos he ate loads of carbs.
 
Yeah bad breath, crabby moods and headaches etc....all the joys of fast weight loss. I have no idea why the bad breath things occurrs but the rest makes sense I suppose. Slowly but surely sounds boring but it had the best long term effects really.

Oh I also lost that weight while living alone....living with DH I find it impossible to not want what he's having!
 
sausages have got rusks in so i dont think you can have them. and marinated meat has usually got loads of sugar in so thats a no no too. just pure meat is best. atkins is brill for quick weight loss but its hard i just done it to get most of my weight off now i just eat healthily and am letting the rest come off slowly.
 
I personally believe the best way to diet is to have a local friend who's dieting too and do your weekly shop together. Dieting sins usually happen in the supermarket, when you see the cookies or ice-cream for buy one get one free etc.
If you go with a friend then you won't put it in your trolley in the first place, and can both fill up your trolleys with fruit and stuff.
 
Urchin that's a great idea....I don't have any friends locally that don't work that could shop with me. I usually have Sainsburys deliver to my home anyway so avoids me seeing cookies etc in the store! :D
 
i had smelly wee as well as breath. wouldnt recommend atkins. i am doing rosemary conley at the moment. for the first 2 weeks you eat 1200 calories a day. 200 for breakie, 250 for lunch and 450 for dinner. 100 for 2 pieces of fruit and 50 for salad i have lost 50 somewhere but just put it somewhere. then after the two weeks they change your calorie intake according to weight, sex etc. Maybe you should think about doing this diet. if money and time is an issue then just go for two weeks and get all the literature.

i have lost 6.5lbs in my first week and i have only been doing the 1200 calories a day for four days.
 
i lost over a stone in 6 week with slimfast ! but again it goes back on and more , and for some reason its really hard to do again !

im now just calorie counting , so i can eat what i want , i dont starve myself ( otherwise body goes into starvation mode) and do it that way .
 
just don't eat any fat or any dairy! i can't believe how much i losing because i can't eat them!


or there is the old drink half a pint of water if you feel hungry. if you still feel hungry after 15 mins, then you are hungry and then have something to eat.
 
thank for the advise girls i think im still gonna try it for a while and reintrodyce healthy food after a while :hug:
 
but the atkins diet isn't healthy or normal mel.
for how long can you cut our bread/poizz etc out your diet?

you're better off doing a slimming owrld diet which encourages a healthy balanced diet.
its more normal and you're more likely to stick to it all your life.
 
ur supposed to do it for the 1st 2 weeks at only 20g of carbs, i have found a guide how to add carbs the right way, im just up for this coz i feel crap about my weight, it getting me down:(
 
i know the feeling mel but honestly the atkins diet isn't the ay to go. my friend lost weight on it but as soon as she started eating normally againshe put it all back on.
 
yeah, gosh im just so sick of this weight thing now i never imagined id put on this much weight its so bad i feel so unattractive
 
ive been doing the slimming world diet for three weeks and ive lsot half a stone already mel.

try and find your nearest group and go along.

it may be the best thing youy ever do .
