Hi Guys,

this ghastly virus thing has now got me wheezing and coughing like I've never done, I think my temp is up and down too. To cap it all Elliott was feeling better last night and was up for three hours in the night skipping around and not being in bed so I am feeling pretty done for. Thankfully I am at my mum and dad's and my dad is just about well enough to handle him this morning while I go back to bed thank god!

Anyway, about 10 years ago I used to get asthma on and off a bit, only really when I had a cold etc but my inhaler is ancient and technically I'm not asthmatic although my mum and nan are. Last night I started wheezing badly and it took steam to calm my breathing down. My mum has a Salamol 100MCG Inhaler which she has lent to me this morning in case I get a proper attack- are any of you on it? Is it ok? I won't use it until I hear just in case, I'm just scared that I'll have a full blown attack but I don't think it means I have asthma again or that I'll need it after a day or two of rest....?

Advice? If I phone my Dr/midwife they'll say don't use someone else's inhaler of course

Thanks

I have been using salbutamol (ventolin) and becotide throughout, I did have to stop my singulair tablets which were also for my asthma........my doctor assured me they are fine to use!

hiya
i am the very same....my asthma is normally triggered by my allergy to animal hairs so it is controlled. But i am full of a stinking cold and have been having to use mine just now too. Doctor has assured me it is perfectly safe to do so.

Thanks guys! Have just had a puff and OMG it's like a miracle! I was panting lying down this morning, so ridiculous. My mum has one of those flow things that you puff down and my Dad's reading (he doesn't have asthma) was 750, my mum's was 350 and mine was 200 so no wonder I was struggling.

Thanks again

200 is very low (I know from experience of being hospitalised twice due to asthma)..........keep an eye on it and if your peak flow gets any worse please see your doctor straight away!!!!!

Hope you feel better soon

I second what elliebelle says. That is a really LOW reading. Please dont let it get any worse and go and see a doctor

After your advice I went to the Dr this morning- my peak flow was higher than yesterday- 320 but he said it should have been 460 so I'm on both types of inhaler and my breathing is already so much better.

Thanks for the brilliant advice, you're stars!
