Hi,

Just had a scan today confirming that my MC was complete. As it was my second one withouth ever having a baby the doctor was discussing things with me for a while. She said that there is nothing they can do at the moment, and that statistically the chances of the next pregnancy are quite good so they are not going to start testing anything at the moment.

The only thing she said that could help in some cases is to take a baby asperin (75mg) every day in case the problem happens to be with the way blood is clothing. Have anyone else had this advice?

Thanks!

I have heard of this as my friend has to take them but not sure what they do etc

Do you have to take them to thin your blood? Im sure thats why you can take them while TTC to help.

i dont want to confuse anyone but i just came across this in the british medical jurnal website, i have heard of taking asprin to combat any blood clotting disorders to prevent m/c

quote=
All three drugs work by suppressing the production of prostaglandins (fatty acids needed for successful implantation of an embryo in the womb). Because NSAIDs and aspirin act on the whole body, they could lead to abnormal implantation that predisposes an embryo to miscarriage. In contrast, paracetamol acts only in the central nervous system, which may explain why it has no effect on risk of miscarriage, explain the authors.

but i think it may be talking about adult dose asprin

i think if you take the 75mg aspirin you should be ok  hope it works

I think your Gp should do some tests before recomending you take asprin, they need to test you first before treating a hypothetical condition. I would imagine it is only blood test they need to do to check your clotting factors.

I read about the baby asprin theory on the net, but I asked a proper pharmacist on duty in Boot's and she said we must not in case we get pg. It can be a danger to the baby's heart. What with being a qualified pharmacist I think she knows what she's talking about :)

I had my first miscarriage at 6 weeks and someone mentioned to me that it can be beneficial to take baby aspirin (75mg) once a day until pregnant then until 12 weeks into the pregnancy. I was pregnant straight after the miscarriage and went on to have a healthy baby boy. I told me GP what I had taken when I went to see her at 5 weeks to confirm my second pregnancy and although she was a little surprised she said it would do no harm and it is practice for some specialists to recommend it for recurrent miscarriages as it can help to increase bloodflow to the uterus for better implantation.

If in doubt please ask your GP! Good Luck

i lost my 2nd child at 34 weeks due to stillbirth and when they done the post mortom it was because my blood had clotted and blocked the placenta starving the baby of oxygen and blood on my third pregnancy as soon as i found out they started me on 75mg daily of aspirin plus blood thinning injections and everything was fine because its such a low dose there is no threat to the baby at all xxxxxxxxxx

Thanks everyone for replying!! I will give it a go and hope for the best. Just waiting for AF and then I am ready to start TTC.

This site is so great, everyone here is so helpfull and suportive.

Thanks again
