My DH has suggested Arthur as a possibility for Pip.

I like Arthur, but hate Art or Artie as a shortening.

Goes nicely with the middle name - James. Arthur James Smith I like.

What r ur thoughts? Fashionable again or not? Don't want anything too "normal" as it has to go with Smith.

At the mo, we only Eli James on the list. Thinking of adding Arthur James tho!!

To me it still sounds old fashioned but names like that are definately coming back. I don't love it but I don't hate it. I prefer Albert. I really like Eli. I still think Henry is lovely but I know you have hoover issues.

I quite like Arthur...i've been thinking about this and don't know if i'm brave enough to bring it back! :)

You could call him AJ for short ;)

Hoover issues

I really like Arthur James! I think you'll find that people will shorten it whether you want them to or not though x

Yeah - I do have Hoover issues (well done for remembering that mustard, babybrain cant have got u that bad yet!!)

Sams mum - we had Henry picked out as a definate for Pip, then DH says one night "Henry the Hoover". I just can't shake it and can imagine DH dressing him up in red and black as a hoover for Halloween! Lol!

I don't mind AJ, just hate Art/Artie. Will add itto list the list as a possibility and see what Pip looks like when he arrives!

I think my grandad would cry if we called him Arthur (it was my great-granddads name and he died 14 years ago :( )

I love love love the old school names :) My baby is gonna be Stanley I think (if it suits him)

Go for it...it does sounds great with the middle name James :) xxx

:) A friend of mine who is due in December is calling her LO George Arthur and I know of a few others so I think Arthur is making a bit of a come back.

I love Arthur it's really nice but i love old names xxx

I'm totally biased with the name Arthur.....it's my dad's name and he is the best dad in the world :)

I LOVE Arthur! Would have definitely called our baby Arthur if a really good friend of mine didnt just use it for her baby! x

Asked DH this evening if he still liked Arthur as it is really growing on me. Luckily he said he did!!

Kinda goin off Eli now too cos someone at work told me it sounded "gypsy". Not got anything against gypsies but I do t want a "gypsy" name.

Looking like Pip will be Arthur James :D also said to DH I hated Art/Artie and said of he had a nickname it would probably be Pip anyway!

I LOVE the name Arthur and it goes lovely with James, but I like you am not so keen on Artie :/

I really like the name Arthur but i do think it is an adult specific name. It will sound great on him once he is not a kid anymore and the combination is really nice :)

Think I might have mentioned it to u before but I have a friend Arthur Smith and i think it has a lovely ring to it ;-)

His brother is Wesley , Wes for short but not quite as nice

Only prob is you wanted to avoide A letters did you?

I did but I'm kinda goin off Eli now I like Arthur! I'm just hoping that d we dot call him AJ, no one else will and when he gets older he can tell people that's not his name.

It's not too bad, and I think my like of Arthur is overtaking the not wanting an A name thing! Lol!

And I too dislike art or artie. People dont call him that yet. I think it can be avoided as its not like artie has less syllables than Arthur... Iykwim?
