:( Hi there i wonder if anybody on here can help me with this. i have had a 8 week scan and a 12 week scan so far. both of these scans say i concieved around the beggining of may (this year). i dont think there is, but do you think theres any chance i actually concieved on march 12th? its like a 7 week difference... could scans be wrong by this much? Thanks for any help xxxx

I doubt scans would be that wrong hunnie. I would go by scan dates

No the 12 week scan would deffo not be out by that much hun x

No they wouldn't be out by that much. Baby changes drastically over 7 weeks x

I am almost absolutely certain my dates are a few days out, just coz with my first, they did a scan at 10 weeks and he was curled up in a wee ball, they did the length and said he was 10 weeks exactly but then he uncurled so they did the measurement again and said it was actually 10 weeks +4!

This time the scan was at 9 weeks and they said bean was exactly 9 weeks, but it was really fuzzy and all curled up, so i reckon it was longer but they didnt wait for it to uncurl, plus it was much smaller and stuff...

Jasper was born 2 days early (after a days labour, so i went into labour 3 days before my due date) and i have a feeling this one will be a week or so early. Just a hunch but thats what my heart is telling me. There is no way a scan would be 7 weeks out though, they grow massively in that time x

My 12 week scan the baby was measured by the head circumfrence and down to the exact mm they told me how many weeks and days i was, there is a big difference in the baby between the 7weeks you may of concieved and what they are dating you at. I know 7 weeks ago i barely felt crumpet but now he never stops moving and pokes out of my skin... each week he has got stronger and bigger. Have you felt anything or is there a reason you may think the dates are definately wrong?

xx

I agree with the others I don't think you can be 7 weeks out on a scan, maybe 7 days or even 2 weeks at a push but the baby changes drastically between a 12 and 19 week scan.

i think mine are wrong also. I had missed 2 periods when i found out i was pregnant (8weeks) as i come on my AF within a couple of days as my mum. At my 12weeks scan they put me back to nine (3 weeks later)....eh. I am now massive and bigger than i should be. x

thanks everyone for your reassurance. im 17 weeks pregnant at the moment so hopefully me 20 week scan will again show i concieved around the 1st may. what happened on 12th march was a mistake plus i had a period after that incident anyway. i just heard that apparantly you can bleed and still be pregnant? but as far as i remember my period was normal. if people bleed while pregnant isnt it usually lighter and a funny colour? not sure but just the date alone are enough to put my mind at ease was nice to hear your thoughts thank you guys xxxx

they wont change your date at your 20 week scan, babies start to develop differently after 14 weeks so it wouldnt be as accurate x

im the same they put back nearly a week at my 12 week scan compared to what my dates where. but i had a misscarriage a few months earlier, so i put it done to my body not being right. i knew the sonographer at my 20 week scan and i was measuring 8 days more. They cant change your dates at your 20 week scan so thats that. but the sonographer at my 4d scan also mentioned my dates, but im seeing my consultant tommorrow and to be honest she will come when shes ready x

I have had a few scans due to various issues, from my last period my GP worked out DD of Dec 28th - I knew this was slightly out as I have a long cycle and so I though around Dec 31st/1st Jan, the first NHS scan they gave me a due date of Jan 4th, I had a private scan a week later and they dated me Jan 1st, then 16 wk NHS scan agreed with 1st jan but they can't change the date apparently once it is done at 12 wk scan! Just had final 20 week (everything is confirmed as fine now :-) and they have gone back to agreeing with 4th! So in answer to your question(!) I dont think they can be that wrong however a few days is quite clearly possible! The sonographer woman didn't seem too worried either way, she said up to a week doesnt matter - I think i will think differently if I have to go three weeks overdue to be induced!!!!
