so are there any other smokers here????

i am feeling good about this month now and being a new year coming up i think it is time to kick the habit on new years day and was wondering if there were any other smokers who would like to join me or am i the only shamefull one here

so come on and let me know

sam

Not any more, I gave up 8 years ago  hahahaha!

I always found if I could go without the first fag of the day then the cravings got less and less....but be careful cos you tend to eat to compensate as your appetite returns with a vengence

GOOD LUCK! :cheer:

Not anymore I gave up about 11 years ago and even then it was down to peer presure so only lasted 6 months.

Good Luck kicking the habit :cheer: :cheer:

thanks, i am hoping i wont be the only weak one here!

Hiya Sam
I gave up smoking 18 months ago and don't regret it for a minute, however I'm not complacent I'm only one ever cigarette away from starting again! Shamefully I smoked through all four of my pregnancies and thankfully my children are all healthy - no asthma, chest problems etc. But I do worry about damage I may have done to them that hasn't shown up yet! Two things really helped me - the silk quit metre (google it) - you can download it free and it ticks away on your computer desktop telling you how much money you've saved and how much longer you'll live for and how long you haven't smoked - it was a godsend and I loved watching it tick away - money wise mine stands at over £2000 now!!

Sorry I've waffled on but I'd really love you to quit! Feel free to contact me if you want any advise or just someone to shout/moan at.

x

PS: Allen Carrs book is pretty good too!

Quit 3 years ago again after reading the Allan Carr book. Never looked back. Love being smokeless, best thing we ever done!

Also been smokefree for a year now - read Alan Carr -it's brilliant!! It made my brother give up when he didn't even want to!!!

Go to the point now where I don't even think about it (and I was a right fag ash lil, always had one hanging out of my mouth!)

Hi hon; I've never even tried one (nor any drugs...guess sex has always been my downfall instead  ), but I really commend you for trying to quit! Best of luck, and I hope you find a buddy.

i stopped in September but have one when i am drinking which is only when af is here just incase! i know i shouldnt but its my only vice !

dont get the gum, it tastes like feet!

I was a smoker whilst TTC (approx 20 a day, sometimes more).........I quit within 24 hours of getting my BFP and DH quit 2 months later..........!!

Its amazingly easy to give up when its a matter of life and death, and I havent looked back since.

You will quit when the time is right - good luck hun

Hun I promise you I tried many times before too, I am asthmatic and smoking and asthma were never a good combination.

As soon as I fell pregnant I had the life of a growing baby in my hands, and it is proven that smoking can cause miscarriage, premature birth, low birth weight, plus all sorts of respiratory problems later in their lives........there was no way on earth I could have carried on smoking knowing this, so it made giving up very very easy!!

If you think it through logically when the time comes, you will quit within hours of getting your BFP.........

Don't beat yourself up I smoked through the 1st 3 months of being preggers with my daughter  I feel very very ashamed of it, but its not easy to quit. I gave up the last 6 months of the pregnancy and then started again after I had her. STUPID STUPID ME!!. I am now smoke free again for 6 weeks monday just gone as I want ttc no 2, but I found it easy this time round. You can do it!!!

well we're officially smoke free hubby and i gave up new years eve and haven't touched one since its only 5 days but it feels alot longer and so much better even though the cravings are still there i just suck a lollipop of chew gum. its will power you need we just went on how much it costs and the money we spend on cigs each week could be saved up to go on holiday plus we'd be healthier and as we are trying for our 2nd baby could help our chances of concieving
