I pay my daughter to go to after school care, she only goes sometimes but I get a bit of it paid for by hmrc through tax credits. Am I still entitled to this amount while i'm on maternity leave (when effectively I could be looking after LO instead of putting her in?)

I would have thought so, because technically by removing her 1, could lose her place but 2. isn't for her benefit to be pulling her in and out of stuff like that.

I would ring but i would say its 99% yes xx

I had a look on the hmrc website & it says you are classed as working if you worked 16hours or more before you went on leave & you coz your classed as working are still intitled to the money, same as if you are on sick leave. Gonna fone & confirm on mon got something else to enquire about.

Thanks jules

:)

No Prob, it would hardly be good for the people with lots of kids if they had to have their kids at home 24/7 when theyve a baby xxx

As far as I'm aware hun, you're still classed as employed on maternity leave so still entitled to your childcare credits. x
