I know this probably belongs in the formula feeding section but couldn't fidn anything to help in there and this part tog the forum is a bt busier so thought more people might see.

My son was on Neocate for suspected cmpi, recently had allergy testingn and as no allergy he's been changed onto aptimil pepti 1, gp gave us pepti 2 week before last and the diarrhoea was horrific. Gone back to pepti 1 and whilst not diarrhoea his stools are very loose and smell foul. He's going 6/7 times a day and also pooing in his sleep too, we've got a video monitor and you can see him writhing around before eventually waking crying and when you go in the first thing that hits you is the nappy smell.

Is anyone else's baby on aptimil pepti- have you experienced anything similar? We're seeig the consultant on Wednesday and I'm at a total loss with what to do now.

Whatever he was on before was working - demand the consultant to re prescribe the milk! Could it be lactose rather than protein? :(

Apparently it is really rare for babies to be lactose intollerant so that's been ruled out. I understand why they've switched from neocate to this its £14 a tin instead of £30 so I don't think they'll switch us back but an definately going to ask. Didn't know if the runny nappies were just a reaction he was having or what a lot of people have found.

If you've given it time on the pepti & it's still happening, demand the other prescription. They can't expect a baby to suffer just so they save money!! If the doc refuses, as him for the procedure to complain

Thanks girls I will do. It's getting worse really, so I'm going to have to do something.

definitely demand to be switched back. There is obviously something that's upsetting his belly.

Go to a diff doctor if needed, or contact HV, I find my HV is brilliant at getting us seen by a peadatriction when needed, same day even!
