I can not imagine what her parents are going through . I just don't understand how people can do things such as snatching a child and god only knows what else xxx

It's horrible isn't it , I just hope they find her alive an well the poor thing . X

this is all happening about an hour from me!!! so scary and sad x

Omg really , I have had sky news on for the past 2 days all day more or less . It seems like everyone from the community they live in is really pulling together x

It's terrible. There are some sick, twisted maniacs out there :(

First thing I did this morning was check the news. I can't imagine what her and her family are going through, makes me feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I hope to goodness there's a happy ending!

i agree, but what the hell were they doing letting a 5 year old out on her own, she got took at 7pm! she should of been home in bed at that time, the news said there were only kids around no adults wtf!! i feel sorry for her and her parents but come on a bit of commen sence would'nt go a miss, take better care of your child!! and the twisted fuck that took her should be strung up!!

It isnt really about whether she should or should not have been let out?? the most important thing is a child is missing.

And from what Ive heard the community is a safe one where all the kids are out at that time? Not that I would let my child out at that time at the age but each to their own... I think the parents have got enough to worry about without being judged by people who do not know them or their situation?

It cant be that safe if a child was took? i dont really judge anyone but if she was at home this would not have happend.
Any how i hope and pray she is found safe.

I keep checking back on sky news to see if she's been found. Her parents must be going through hell. X

yes exactly this. Im in rural wales and literally everyone knows everyone. Kids play out all the time, we know them on first name terms. If one of them hurts themselves, we know who each of their parents are and would be able to get in touch with them pretty quick. Kids are out of bikes, turning over stones looking for crabs, generally being children, its healthy. houses arent built as close together and so you can see the kids playing from most of the houses too. Machynlleth is a very small place, its not the same as kids in towns playing out. Im surprised there werent any adult witnesses, he mustve chosen his moment carefully.

But 7pm you'd think she'd have had her tea and been in by then, but you cant judge, you dont know what hours the parents work or how busy they are, she may well have had their tea and been allowed to play out a bit longer. They mightve planned to call her in at half past for her bath and bed.

To be honest it doesnt bode well, I know the area and the woods, mountains, rivers very close by, if you had something to hide, its not that hard.

i used to be out all day at a young age as i lived rurally and shit like this just did not happen! your kids should be safe to play in the community, it sickens me the state of our country today. Its so sad you cant just let your kids play outside without net twitching in fear of them going missing.....really saddens me and scares me for when i have my own kids?

the poor poor girl, what kind of animal does this?

We always used to play out on our avenue till around that time and obviously less when winter fully set in, like lynette says we had our tea and were then allowed back out till bed time which was probably around half 7. She may have only been minutes from going in for bed time.

I don't understand why anyway would want to abduct children but then I'm probably being very naive.

thats not naive at all, there is no reason its against every moral fibre in a humans body/ instincts.

we are supposed to protect children, any children its a carnal instinct! people whi do stuff to kids should be shot, there is no rehabilitation for someone with that kind of intent.

It such a shame that kids can't play outside at 7pm with other friends for fear of being taken. WTF has the world come to? Kids aren't allowed to be free and play without worry any more and it's such a shame.

Unfortunately, most child abductions and child abuse is carried out by someone known to the child. So she could have been taken at 2pm in the afternoon. If it was the man arrested that did it, then I think the time she was out playing is irrelevant.

At 7pm it's getting dark or is dark and personally I wouldn't allow my 5 year old out to play when it was dark whether I lived in a rural area or not. You hear so many horror stories on the news about child abductions etc you literally cannot take your eyes off your child for a second these days which is so very sad in my opinion.
I remember playing out when I was little and actually having a childhood. Nowadays, there is a risk of children not having a childhood because parents are so paranoid that something will happen. It sickens me.
Maybe April should have been in bed at that time, but I'm sure her parents are beating themselves up about that at the moment. The main priority is that April is found safe and well, but as time goes on I am starting to fear the worst.

I remember us playing outside til dusk as kids. Probably a bit older than 5 but we def did it! Having said that it was in Guernsey and it's too small for kids to be snatched really but I feel sad for this generation that it can't be allowed to happen and they won't get the same freedom that we did. Worlds gone down hill big time.
