Has anyone had a HSG scan done I've got one today and being honest I'm terrified did it hurt and did you g your results on the day?

I had mine quite a while ago now.. I think 2 years ago? No idea!

Anyway - I found it a bit uncomfortable, like period sort of pain but it was over fast enough
They did say a few things on the day like it all looked clear but I did then have another appointment to discuss results with the gynaecologist a month or 2 later

it might help a little to take some paracetamol an hour before

Hope it goes well xx

The thing is painkillers don't work for me so I guess I'm screwed on that one , I have a follow up appointment with Gynaecology for the 27th of this month x

Had one 2015 and really helped me. They found polyps which turned out to be a condition called hyperplasia. My doc told me this would significantly lower my changes of getting pregnant. So after treatment which cleared this up I got pregnant on the first ivf try.

I did find it uncomfortable but its quick. Try to have someone with you to hold your hand :) you will be fine! x

Hope you didn't find the hsg too bad!! I prepared myself for the worst but actually it was OK. Wouldn't say it was the most pleasant but if I needed another one done I wouldn't lose sleep over it if you know what I mean!!

The staff doing mine were really good and let me see the screen while they were doing it. I did ask outright to see and they were quite happy. I took pain relief before going but I'm not really sure if it was needed or not. For me the cramping wasn't bad and honestly I've had period pain that's been far worse. I went straight back to work after and just spotted for a few days.

Hi thanks for your replays I had it done and didn't feel a thing apart from the speculum not had any cramps yet so guess I'm lucky really and I also didn't take any pain relief got told my tubes are clear but will get full report on the 27th of sept

Glad it went well. The thought of it really was worse than the actual thing!

If you haven't had and cramps by now, I doubt you'll get any. I basically felt nothing afterwards, it was just briefly while they were actually flushing the dye. Glad they are clear but I think it just helps to know that they're OK.

I didn't have any cramps on Tuesday after the scan but I've had mild cramps since weds no idea why, I didn't even feel the dye being flushed through I was surprised when they told me it was done x

That's annoying you had cramping later especially when you didn't feel the dye. I definitely felt the dye lol. They had a job getting them flushed first time. Then the catheter fell out. Then they had to set up again. Then they pushed a whole lot more through and it worked second time haha. So yours definitely sounded more pleasant than mine!! Everyone's just different I guess.

Oh wow sounds painful the only thing I felt was the speculum I was lay expecting to feel something but nothing I'm at docs on Tuesday so if the cramps continue I'll speak to him cos that'll be a week after it being done x
