Im getting a desktop PC cos my laptops getting hammered (Im on it constantly and it cant be good for it!).

I've seen one in PC World for about £299 I think, does anyone know if I can get a decent one any cheaper? Maybe Currys or somewhere?

Cheers :D

I think £299 is a good price. Check out deals that PC world do, i.e. bank holiday weekends etc, Currys can be a little more expensive most of the time for things like that, Comet often do deals and sounds daft but there is a HUGE tesco in London that sell them (not sure of their prices) but they do now do online shopping for electricals, you could try them.

That's a very good price - ours cost nearly £600 and we thought that was good

Its the cheapest one in the store

Im not being tight or anything, I just want a basic one and TBH the one I saw has brilliant features for a cheap price.

Probably just stick with that but I'll try and get them to give me it for £250

No - it sounds great :D
My OH works in computers so we had to have some stuff with very complicated names

weve got a relitevely (sp) new one from pcspecialist.co.uk, where you can choose your own spec and modfel the insides to your price :)

That sounds like a good idea :)

My ex made mine from components and it cost about £200 for the lot, but took a couple of weeks to build, and I wouldn't have attempted it! Leave it to the geeks :) OH has since replaced some pieces to make them better, and slowly upgrade piece by piece... but yeah - one where you can pick your own components sounds like a good plan.

Make sure you get one with enough memory in, and good video/sound and graphics cards. Otherwise images, music and videos will play all slow and crappy :)

Think I'll just go with the one I saw originally, its got plenty of memory and stuff. I wouldnt care, I had a brand new one not so long ago but I sold it when I got my laptop

But my new PC will come with Windows Vista which Im kinda excited about, how sad am I

I'm not that impressed with Vista - I only use the gadgets.

To be honest, I'm not sure what else it does  apart from do that thing where it stacks the things you've got open on the desktop

Ahh to have my intricate computer knowledge :rotfl: :rotfl:
