Hi all,

I was a really active member when ttc etc. My lb turned 2 in Nov 17, if i can answer any questions for anyone i’m more than willing? Had Gestational Diabetes, few incidents of reduced movements and induction experience. Baby went to scbu for 24 hrs too. Xx

Hi Carla

I have type 1 diabetes so I’ll be getting induced early... how did you find yours? What method did they use?

Can I ask why they induced you early because you had diabetes? :)

For type 1 they say it’s because your placenta ages and can stop working by 40 weeks so they don’t like to let you go full term... not sure for gestational diabetes whether it’s the same reason

Very interested to "meet" a fellow GD mum.

So tell me everything lol.

Were you medicated? When did you have baby? (How many weeks and were you induced?) What size was baby?

Also how are things after delivery - ie: What do they do to baby? And to you? How long were you both In?

How are things more longer term? Are you tested regularly for type 2?

Thanks.

Sorry, I see you had an induction and baby went to SCBU.

Was the SCBU directly because of the GD?

I won't bore you too much but GD but basically your body isn't functioning as it should, you often end up medicated and there are many risks (large baby and associated risks with that for example). There is absolutely no benefit to baby to go beyond 40w.

My hospital induce at 40+6 if you are one of the minority who can control by diet, 39w-40w if you are on Metformin and earlier if you are on Insulin.

I'll get my date next week. I'm on everything.
