Anyone had the op for removal of ingrown toe nail??

My best friend has had it done on both her big toes at the same time 
, she said it didn't hurt much during but was quite tender afterwards, but as as long as you don't bash it and change the dressings regularly it should be fine, she couldn't drive for about 3 weeks, but she had both of hers off at the same time, so maybe won't be as long for you.
Also she had to wear really loose shoes and ended getting some Ugg type boots which were roomy and cushioned her feet well as her trainers/work shoes were too tight.
She said however, that all the discomfort was much better than having ingrown toenails anymore!

thanks for the tip on ugg boots, hadnt considered footwear afterwards, might invest in some me thinks..

I had a bad ingrowing big toenail, it was so bad I asked my mum to cut it off while I had my epidural in but she forgot
I went to the docs and they referred me to a chiropodist but I let it grow out on its own. I can totally sympathise with you, it is soooo bloody painful, At least after the op you will be a bit sore but nothing like it was.

hi hun my son had it done last christmas on both his big toes and he was in quite a bit of pain for about 10 days, he was quite padded up when we left the hospital and it was about 10/14 days before he could get his shoes back on

in one breath i think, surely it cant hurt as much as the actual problem is... but then i think omfg wen u cut ur nail too short that is painful, im gonna have the whole thing off :l
but ah well, i got some goooooooooooooood pain killers in ready off my GP
if u see any posts after thursday that dont make much sense you know im high as a kite on these tablets

Make sure you prepare your house in advance aswell, tape sponges to the bottom of bed posts, table legs, and anything you could stub your toe on. When I brought Isaac home from the hospital my toe was really sore and my OH accidently kicked it and I wet myself

I had mine done about 10 years ago and it didnt hurt havin it done, it was the injection to numb it that bloody hurt!
I put my foot up for a few days and put sandles on so the air could get to it and it was ok after a week or so. Buit i wore comfy shoes only for a month.

might aswell be a toe or even the foot for how scared i am....
the doc was drawing on this paperwork what he was going to do, i nearly chuffin fainted..
god fooking help me..
