anyone got gestational diabetes?

i have a GTT test on 22nd october and a few in 2nd tri have had one/are having one soon,
has anyone actually got results and they have diabetes? what happens then?

I had GD. found out when i was 32 weeks. they put me on a diabetes diet and i had to test my blood after or before meals depending on the day. bloods were still high so at 34 weeks i had to start injecting insulin. had lots of scans to check baby weight.He was 7 12 so average and delivered two weeks early.

I went to my 30 week appointment today and I was told there was Glucose in my urine for the first time... however the midwife did say she wasn't worried at all because it was the first time since the beginning of my pregnancy, but if it happens again at my next appointment I should be tested for gestational diabeties as my husband has a bit of diabetes history in his family.

The test is a piece of cake. Not a prob at all. Results within a week. Fortunately my blood sugar came back normal - 4 and the threshold is 8.

It can be important to have a GTT Kimbo as it will mean you can prevent possible future issues should you have to. And just because you have a high BMI or diabetes in the family, it doesn't mean you will have a + result either. Very best wishes This page is full of great info too;

I had the test, 4 blood tests taken. they take one set of blood, made me down 2 bottles of lucozade, 30 mins later had another blood test, 30 mins after that, another blood test and then 1 hr after that, the last blood test. The results were back within 24 hrs for me.

Turns out I am a very low risk for GB, cleared my mind up.

i found out i got it when i was carring jayde and the same as above happend to me its nothing to worry about hun good luck
