Now Albert is awake more, although not at regular times, I'm finding it hard to get stuff done. He's up early this morning (I normally do everything when he's lying in) and is totally awake watching Thomas the Tank Engine :D. If I walk out of the room when he's awake he gets upset and I can't achieve anything. I don't have a sling, might have to invest when I get paid Wednesday or I can see us living in squalor lol

He's turning into a real mummy's boy  xxxxxxx

Nope, exactly the same here. When she's awake she wants attention and she doesn't give a damn if I've got stuff to do!!!

We went thru a stage like this but now he pretty much naps at the same times each day so I run round doing the chores then lol so I can give him my full attention when awake!

I always try and do everything when he is asleep as I enjoy spending the awake time with him!! In the morning tho I have always let him play on his own on the play mat while I have brekkie and catch up on things!! At first he was grizzly but he now expects it and plays away for best part of an hour on his own!!
xxx

Oh Tyler's always played alone ok. If he grizzled when I put him down I just put the lights on, on his mat or distract him with a toy. Simple minds eh ;)

I am in a open plan flat so it could be because he can generally always see me?

Maybe pinky, we live at the top of the house so kitchen etc is downstairs. I have the monitor on now but it doesn't help him lol. I'll definitely have to look into getting a sling, we have a baby carrier but am worried I'll forget he's there, carry laundry up the stairs and suffocate the poor little thing lol

I read somewhere that Some babies get upset when left because they've not
Learned to amuse them selves.

One trick said to do the same kinda thing you can do with sleep -the moving chair. 10mins playing with mummy, 10mins playing near mummy, and You gradually move further away. Xxx

Same here, and sadly Emily will NOT go in a sling / carrier... :-(. House is a pig sty!

i can generally leave Alyssa in her bouncy chair or on her mat happily cos i always have done, she is going thru a clingy phase tho. my oh has decided that its cos shes with me too much so he had her yesterday for half the day but when she was screaming and crying for me he wouldnt give her to me and basically just sat there with her screaming on his knee while playing ps3! she wouldnt have got so distressed if he had rocked her or took her out the room. i suggested rocking her off in her pram and he wouldnt cos it meant he wouldnt be able to sit down!!!!!! so i sat there crying just as much as her til she got exhausted and napped for 10 mins, then she wad happy for 5 mins and got tired n cranky again so he finally gave her to me. she had only screamed and sobbed for like 3 hours with a couple of 10 min sleeps. he thinks it will be better for her in the long run if i dont comfort her when she wants me as i wont always be around. i pointed out that when im not around she accepts it and settles fine for others as she gets left with my mum every thursday.

Our house is on 4 levels living room on 1st floor, kitchen & loo on 2nd floor, Jack's room & spare room on 3 floor, our room and bathroom on 4th floor!! Even now he's 11 months it's almost impossible for me to cook/clean while Jack's awake! His morning nap is when I usually have brekkie, get dressed have a quick tidy up and unload/load the dishwasher. His afternoon nap is longer so I usually cook any batch cooking he needs and also prep dinner for the evening. We're moving this year and I can't wait to have the kitchen on the same level as the living room so he can be awake and toddling about while I cook, it'll make life so much easier!! x
