Hi everyone
Nice to meet you. Am new and just need to talk with others in similar boat..and to share.
I am 40 and my husband and I have been trying for about 10 months now.
Saw the Dr for advice today to be told there is nothing NHS can do.
She suggested that I was pretty average and to keep trying maybe for another year. Was also given fertility clinics to get advice from.
I am still trying to get to grips when am actually ovulating as my cycle can be irregular.
Just thought be nice to share and support any others here who are
Thanks

Hello :) I’ll be nearly 37 when we start TTC and also have fairly irregular cycles. Some people take longer to conceive, 10 months is not considered unusual for anyone. It may be worth getting a fertility app on your phone to track your cycles, or start thinking about taking your temperature and looking for fluctuations. Changes in your discharge (or cervical mucous) is also an indicator of your fertile times . Best of luck ttc x

Hi,,, thanks. I will look into an app. I will start trying the ovu sticks. How would go about testing temp? Yes my cervical discharge.. i was looking out for lately but not as obvious.
Thanks oh it’s nearly 11 months now but if this is not unusual then ok
Thanks and good luck too xx

You just need to take your temp each morning (preferably before you get out of bed) and it should be fairly consistent providing that you are well. Around ovulation you will note a difference in temp.
The fertile mucous is like egg white...clear and stretchy. After ovulation it normally goes white/milky.

I am 34 ..35 in August been trying 15 months for baby no.1 Still trying, Still hoping but slowly loosing hope. Signing up to IVF waiting list in May for treatment end of the year. Wishing you luck! I woukd say get to notice the patterns in your cycle. I am not much help considering I am failing at getting pregnant.

I have just turned 39. I had a MA at the end of February, and now we are trying again. I feel like a granny only when it comes to this ;)

The NHS can do a sperm test for your OH and they can do general blood tests to check you are both healthy. I am 42 and got pregnant recently after trying for 3 years. It's worth doing the sperm test...we found out my OH was dehydrated and once we sorted that out we got pregnant very quickly - he's a coffee addict! There is evidence to show that women in their early 40s are actually often quite fertile.

I would recommend Clear Blue advanced opks as the cheap opks were always positive for me the day after ovulation - older women tend to ovulate much closer to their LH peak. I recommend charting and temping for a bit to get to know your cycle. We ditched the charting and stuff just before we got a BFP, but I had got to know my cycle so well by then.

Good luck!
