Hi ladies, now I have started to wean Harlow, I am determined to try and cook all her food myself.. But.. I am clueless! I was making mash myself yesterday and thought.. Oohhhh if any is spare I'll freeze it for Harlow.. Nearly did until I realised.. Damn.. I put normal cows milk and butter and salt in this!! I can't give this to my lil girl!

Made me realise I need help and advice lol!

What do you ladies recommend? X

I have the annabel karmel book its called feeding your baby and toddler, seems to have most of the info needed but what I found most usefull funnily enough is the leaflet that my mum got given when she was weaning me and my brother as it is so simple wereas the current books seem to complicate things!!

I'd highly recommend the Annabel Karmel books (although tbh, most of the recipes are on her web site if you don't want to pay for the books), I've got 100 Top Baby Purees and the Baby and Toddler Meal Planner. They are great for ideas and recipe/ingredient sizes/quantities. I usually do about 4 or 5 recipes all at once, takes about an hour as they are all pretty quick tbh and freeze the lot in weaning trays (I've found the silicon ones are best as the cubes are so much easier to get out), pop the frozen cubes in freezer bags and just remove as you need them. With Jax having them for both lunch and dinner, they last about 4 weeks.

I've got these weaning trays http://www.amazon.co.uk/ZEAL-J251-S...H9CK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338368730&sr=8-1

I've also got one of these which I have found to be invaluable with both my boys. It steams and blends and is only small so really good for baby sized portions http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beaba-Babycook-Sorbet/dp/B000T9AZNY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1338376963&sr=8-2

Sorry, don't know what I did to the link for the blender!! LOL. It should have been this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beaba-Babycook-Sorbet/dp/B000T9AZNY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1338376963&sr=8-2

Its a Beaba Babycook!! They are quite expensive but it's been brilliant. I've had mine for nearly 6 years now and it's still working perfectly - even after being in storage for 5 years!!

Lol thanks, Funnily enough I was on amazon comparing that one and the Philips version too. I can't decide which one! I'm deffo going for one or the other but eeekkk which one!! X

I've just bought the same as DW looking forward to them coming! X

I've got the Annabel Karmel book and I tried a recipe from there tonight, she didn't think much of it but we usually give her quite boring stuff, mostly just veg so it probably surprised her a bit haha xx

Don't be disheartened, it took Jax quite a few weeks, probably about 6 weeks, before he really got it and started enjoying the food and properly opening his mouth for the food
