I'm hoping some of you may have a few suggestions on booby weaning. I'm still BFing Otis in the mornings and before bedtime. However I would like to cut out the night feeds - to start with. It would be nice if for a change my OH could put Otis to bed!!!
I haven't tried anything as yet, but would love to put something into action soon... I think it's about time  !
Cheers,
D

Hi Daggers,

I don't, but I just wanted to say good luck! I had a look on KellyMom for you to see if I could find any tips or hints, but I couldn't find anything.

I'll be interested to read the replies you get and well done to you for breastfeeding for so long, that's fantastic.

No advice hun, i just wanted to say hi

Im still feeding Thea morning and night too but she gets her night feed downstairs and then her dad puts her to bed :)

No real advice on the night time ones, but I stopped the morning ones when Ellie was just over a year old. I did this by giving her her breakfast and cows milk from a beaker as soon as I got her up at 7:30. I then still offered her the breast afterwards but she completely refused this. After 3 days I stopped offering her the breast as she was completely refusing it if she had her drink and breakfast first.

The bed time one, I still have.

We have recently discovered that Ellie settles really quickly for Daddy during the night, whereas if I go in, she wants a BF, however for Daddy she just puts her thumb in and goes to sleep. The other day she couldn't BF because she was so bunged up she had a reasonable amount of cows milk from a beaker (I am now offering he this before, during and after the night time BF), and then I put her in the cot. She didn't settle so I sent Daddy in, who she again settled for really quickly. Now she isn't so blocked I am still BF her but it was a suprise.

Firstly thank you all for your comments!
I don't quite want to give up the morning feeds as yet, as Otis does seem to want his morning feed at the mo. My OH did get Otis up on a Saturday morning but Otis was never very happy to see him and it would always end up in tears, though it never lasted very long.
On occassion Otis has not been bothered about the night feed, therefore I think i may start to drop them. I think I'll get my OH to start putting down as off Monday (maybe Sunday?? ) and see how things go. On a whole I believe he just likes the boob more as a comforter then anything else.
With regards to the mornings, Otis does have normal cows milk as soon as we get down stairs but initially he is just so excited to see me and my boob that I think I'll stick with the morning feeds until we've managed to drop the night feeds with no problem.
Besides I wouldn't mind having another bun in the oven before Otis turns 2, and I'm not sure if these two feeds could affect my cycle - ovulation  .

Cheers ladies, always good to hear from you all!

dont have any tips really- i tried melissa on bottles when she was 2 or 3 months and she wouldnt take them- then i tried at 5 or 6 months and she took it no probs! sorry cant rele help

I assume he takes a beaker/ cup fine during the day?

I stopped BF Evie just before her first birthday (a few weeks ago).TBH I don't know if I can give you any advice, it was far less traumatic than I thought it was going to be. I had already stopped her daytime BF. One day, after being bitten the previous two nights  I just gave her cows milk in her beaker. She didn't fuss or complain, infact she took what she wanted then was happy to settle herself in her cot.

Easy peasy really, hope it works out for you :D
