Hello everyone!

I'm just wondering whether anyone else feels the same as me or can put my mind at rest...

I've got a friend who is a week ahead of me and looks HUGE in her pictures and I have barely got a bump of any description! Also a few other people have commented that I'm not as big as they were at this stage and now I'm getting a bit paranoid and worrying that everything is ok and that the baby is still growing in there!

My 12 week scan was fine and I know that each pregnancy is different so I shouldn't compare with anyone else! My stomach has definitely got harder and I can feel where my uterus is moving upwards a bit....just feel a bit deflated that I do'nt actually look pregnant in comparison at all!!

I've got a midwife appointment on Thursday and was told last time that she might be able to hear the heartbeat so that will reassure me I guess...so long as I hear one!

Anyone else have these kind of paranoia attacks?!

I wouldnt worry at all hun.
Everyone grows diferantly.
My auntys friend is now 6 months pregnant and has only really started showing.
Youll be glad you started showing later at 30 weeks when youve got a big bump to carry around with you

My first pregnancy I didn't have a bump til I was 18 weeks and then it was only tiny and this time I hardly have anything there at all again. Don't worry about it. We are all different and grow at different rates. By 40wks we all have massive bumps just takes us all different times to get there  xxxx

Hello,

Please try not to worry, bump size doesn't indicate your womb size or the size of your baby, some people are massive and have loads of fluid and some people are smaller bececause its just baby in there.

I do know how you feel though and other poeple saying things like you look small doesn't help!!!

Don't worry unless the midwife/doctor does.
I am nearly 27 weeks and i've just started to get big but still really neat.
It depends on your size and how your body adjusts to it.
When i got my scan at 16 weeks you could hardly see my bump but i was told that the baby was big so goes to show that bump size doesn't really say much.

Good luck!

I used to work with a lady who had four kids. When she got pregnant with her fifth, she didn't tell anyone until she was six months gone, and none of us had twigged - we just thought she'd over indulged at xmas!! She wasn't even wearing baggy clothes - just the same as pre-pregnancy, and she was only a size 8!!

So don't worry, I'm sure you'll have a fine bump soon. Mine seems to have pretty much doubled in size since week 15, so you might start to look pregnant sooner than you think!

When I had an internal scan early on, the lady said that my womb tilts backwards...do you think that could have anything to do with it?? I wondered whether maybe it's not pushing forward as much so I'm not showing as much?

hun, Im just over 15 weeks - same as you :) ..I have aboslutely nothing whatsoever!!..My belly is flat as a pancake!

...i cant wait to get a bump

I wouldn't worry at all. Every bump is different and grows at different rates. During my bad sickness I barely ate anything and was lucky if I kept down a bowl of cereal in the morning. Little one was still growing despite me losing nearly a stone and I had quite a round decent sized bump! My skinny size nothing friend only got her bump in the 3rd trimester and she looked huge right at the end 'cause she's only really short as well, but up until then she barely even looked pregnant! :)

hey darling i wouldnt worry about it at all, and i bet you wake up one morning wondering where the hell that bump came from x x

I would say that its more unusual for your friend to be huge at just 16 weeks than you being alot smaller, the baby isnt even 4 inches yet! I'm only now starting to look pregnant at 24 weeks and to be honest, it might suck now, but I reckon we're the lucky ones who might not be huge when full term - fingers crosses eh!

I've had exactly the same concerns as you because i'm over 18 weeks and haven't really got that much to show for it however, when I lie down I have a very defined bump on one side and can see exactly where the baby is lying. I've just started feeling movements and listened to the heartbeat last week so that's been very reassuring.

Funnily enough, I was also told I had a tilted uterus so maybe it has got something to do with it. Apparently this rights itself when the baby gets bigger.

Oh hun.. I understand why you're getting paranoid.. but everything is fine. Is this your first? When I was pregnant with my first, people couldn't guess that I was pregnant by looking at me.. not until i was about 18 weeks.. they say "slight" women show the earliest. This time around, my tummy ballooned so quickly.. but that's because my uterus was like "oh, right, here we go again.. I know what to do.. here I go.."

Please don't worry hun. You'll look back on your worry and laugh later on when you start showing. Please don't get upset if midwife can't find the heartbeat, sometimes it's very hard to catch.. but good luck anyway.. it's lovely when you hera your baby's heart ticking away.

 Please don't worry hun.. I promise you everything is fine :D

I wouldn't worry hun, like the others have said, everyone grows at different rates. And it IS more unusual for your friend to be really big at 16 weeks rather than you being small as the baby is still only tiny!

I didn't start showing properly til I hit around 22 weeks, and what with it being the middle of winter and wearing big jumpers and cardi's, it's still hard to really notice my bump!

awww hun honestly dont worry! i started my temp job at 21 weeks, and no one could tell i was pregnant, i left after christmas at 27 weeks, and still hardly anyone could tell, went back last week to do some shopping and all of a sudden everyone was saying 'OMG you can really tell you're pregnant now'

how tall are you out of interest?

I am 5'5 and a medium build. I wonder whether maybe my friend has just eaten more or something or is just relaxing her tummy in her pic then? Who knows?! I had terrible morning sickness and lost half a stone in the first 13 weeks - when I came back to work after Xmas my colleagues were commenting that I looked skinnier! So maybe it's just where I lost weight that I look smaller now anyway. But I feel loads better now ladies so thanks!

I'm also worrying myself silly about the results of my blood tests and being scared in case anything horrible shows up! Honestly, I think I'm just worrying myself to death at the moment! Hopefully tomorrow's midwife appointment should alleviate some of my concerns and I'll be able to relax and enjoy things a bit more!
