Ok, so can anyone talk me through using this drug please?

Every single little step like how you'd train a nurse to do it to not cause infection, get the dose right and not kill off the patient with a load of air?

I'd really appreciate it - this is the one that i'm worried about that i'm not getting a lesson on but if i know most of it when i go i can just get them to confirm it rather than have to try and explain it :)

PS. I also have 22 small plastic cylinder shaped things that i'm not sure what they're for and it just occurred to me they might be for this drug too.

I think this is one of those things where someone needs to show you. It's realitively easy and i could tell you exactly how it should be done but i think it's better if someone shows you so you have a positive understanding. I'm sure your local GP will be able to help if you get stuck.

It is quite difficult to inject yourself with lots of air, you just have to drain the fluid out of the bottle slowly and if there is a little air tap it and the bubble will go to the top where the needle is. Give it a little squirt if you want to make double sure the air is out, then inject away. I did mine in my lower tummy.

I know it looks alot of medication but it is used up quicker than you can say BFP!! (well, not that quick but before you know it you'll be having your little embryo(s) soon enough).

Good luck babe xx

I can't give you any advice Lou but I hope you get sorted!

Your a brave brave lady! I'm so squeamish at injections from other ppl let alone myself! Eek!

You rang??

As kerrianne says its much easier if someone shows you and they will, it wont take long to show you and you will pick it up fast as you are a smart cookie. I will tell you a few basics though.
Does it tell you if they are to be injected IM (intra-muscular) or subcut (subcutaneous). sorry i dont know anything about fertility drugs.

I take it though the small yellow needles are for subcut, they can be injected into any where you have fatty tissue, commonly used are thighs and tummy. IM have to be injected into a muscle i.e upper right quad of buttock or arm.

Sub cut are very easy, dont worry about the air as kerrianne says just squirt slightly if you want.

You will be fine, eek its exciting :)

Could hardly read the writing on you thing but think i have managed, i take it the larger needle is for drawing up the sodium cloride (just saline solution used for mixing many drugs) then it is injected into the vial containing tablet, mixed well, drawn up and injected.

Do you have other syringes fro drawing the amount in IU (international units) rather than the ml ones?

ahh thats better, the vial with the blue lid has the tablet right? well you snap the top off the sodium chloride (use a cotton wool pad or somthing as its easy to cut your finger) the blue top pops off the blue lid vial and underneath is a rubber cover you can inject the sodium cholide into to mix

if that makes sense?

Ah yes it does :)

Thanks a lot nurse!

Oh and everyone else for their responses too

No problem, let us know how you get on at your lesson ;) you will breeze it, if it was that hard they wouldnt let all these new student nurses run around the wards injecting people :) yep, scary.

yeah im a nurse too - i said in ur other post if u need us just pm me or nurse!!
it will be fine - what day is ur first injection? i could see if i could be online at that time so can help you with any questions x x

once they show u at the clinic it will be fine! the stoppers come off quite easily - the usually grey plastic bit can be tough at times to push needle through but u cant break it so dont worry x x
